And for my next trick... How about community Broadcasting?

And for my next trick... How about community Broadcasting?

Was thinking about this for a while now, any interest out there in having your own show broadcast from here? Just as the Coalcast broadcast is done I've considered opening this up for the members here to make their own broadcasts. I want to gauge the interest first before going through the effort. You could for example use it to broadcast your own live talk show, music you have the rights too whether they were recordings or they could even be live events. Other uses might include religious services or things along those lines. I could also provide a option for uploading recordings that could be accessed anytime from a webpage hosted here.

Just some thoughts and ideas now, any interest?

Richard,

Did this ever go forward? Just curious how it would work if it did. I have considered starting a podcast (religious) could this be used for that?

Thanks for all that you do!

I've thought about broadcasting our church's sermon for some time now. Currently, we record it on cassette tape, then upload a copy to the church's website. A live broadcast would really be an improvement.

This is available with some limited options but if there is lot of interest I'll expand the offerings. Maybe some web pages listing live broadcasts and even archived content. I'll be doing it with coalcast so it won't be that much work anyway. As of right now you can broadcast live or taped events. You will need a computer and internet connection obviously. Preferably a headset with mic but you really only need a mic if you want to do live talk show broadcast or DJ type stuff.

I will emphasize you cannot broadcast copyrighted material that you do not have the rights too.

I'll allow just about any content, Church services are fine. Anti church services are fine too just as long as the content doesn't stray into the hate speech area.

Just curious how it would work if it did.

Basically you'll need to install some software on your end, I'll give you some special URL's and other information to use with the software and it streams either taped or live materiel from your computer to my server which anyone can then listen too.
