Okay, I edited the post. That's the "after" photo". Notice the faint glow. :D

$5.50 a bag! I think I can borrow a truck for that price. :!:

i think that works out to about $275 per ton, :D having it delivered bulk we would not see much of a savings in price. or am I wrong about that? I use about 7200 pounds for the heating season.

Hard to say. I'll see how much I go through this season. Since I'm not using it as primary heat I'm guessing delivery isn't the way I need to go. But that doesn't mean that some cooperation in SE Michigan wouldn't get us all a better deal next year.

I'm getting a triple axle load in the spring maybe two if my funds hold out, one nut and one rice. would have to get some type of scales to accurately weight out the coal here but if you need some let me know. I like to keep warm and not worry about how much the next bag might cost. Bags are another thing that would have to be brought in.

It's not a bad idea. My buddy will let me use his truck which will move ~1.5 tons.

If you adopted some sort of standard bag you could weigh one full and round up for a bag price.

I'm not going to do it for any profit I just like people to keep warm with made in Pa. material. :) The paid bills will be here and so will the cost. Bring a shovel and I'll look for some big Toledo scales or something to measure the weight.

The other way to do it might be to use a nearby scale at a truckstop. Weigh on the way in, then on the way out.

For the time being, I'm planning a trip to Chelsea with my buddy's F1500 to pick up a skid of bagged.

I am checking in from Fenton. I have an old Vermont Castings Coal/Wood burner. I am always looking for a good quality supplier of coal. I just got 10 bags from Chelsae Rental, so we'll see how it burns...

bought coal from smartheat at 5.50 per bag. vic also was able to show off his coal boiler in his attached garage plumbed into his home heating system, way cool I want one. it can be used for either baseboard heat or plumbed with a coil/heat exchanger into a forced air furnance system. the boiler has a dual feed system from leisureline and a lot of suberb features. way to go vic.
