Heat Shields instead of double walled interior stove pipe

Heat Shields instead of double walled interior stove pipe

My stove pipe is single wall because I can't get double walled adjustable elbows which I need. So I found the "Home Saver Heat Shield" Which allows cutting down clearances 50% according to the ad. Has anyone done this?

Right, you can use metal, concrete board, anything non-combustible as a heat shield depending on your clearances of the stove and how you have it installed.

I put a piece of aluminum above my pipe since I had very tight clearance going into the chimney and the ceiling. Spaced it about 1" away with spacers and it worked fine. The wood/ceiling behind it wasn't even warm to the touch.
