Question about wiring

I'll try that again but when I switched to my new load of coal I couldn't keep a fire at all until I bumped to a higher feed rate....I thought this morning I had a perfect looking dark spot and ash ring (i was really excited) but I just got home for the night and it's out again. Must have burned out and shut down on the L6006A because there is fresh coal in the pot. The frustration continues.....

I took the advice I've seen you give quite often and went back to basics...made sure I was 4 feed, 4 air, 2 min timer setting and see where that gets me. So much has been going on I think I need to start from the baseline and try again with the changes I made. We shall see how I do tonight.

Try the timer at 2 1/2 and actually time it with a watch.

Soon as it comes up to temp I will try that...make sure it's timing right.

Ok....below you can see how I set my timer and I got a 3 minute 3 second run on the timer. I guess maybe I know why 1.5 minutes worked so well for me this summer yet everyone always uses 2 as the baseline. I will take a few more trials but maybe this is definitely a factor...

Why did you change the length of time from summer to winter? The summer is when you really need a timer. If 1 1/2 minutes worked in the summer, it should certainly work in the winter.

Honestly the only reason I changed it was to go back to "baseline" and try and get my settings right again. I was out again this morning but not by much....I will try the timer back at 1.5 again when I get home tonight. I guess I'll leave the feed and air at 4/4 and only change one thing at a time. Although I get the feeling I still have coal quality issues and will have to bump the feed/air up.

OK I had some time today but my camera has dead batteries. So I'll try to explain without picture's. I taped into the power That is going to the boiler. Then I ran the power to the new relay that I added on. Then I disconnected the taco pump wires from the existing relay and connected them to the new relay that I added. Then I disconnected the t-stat wire from the existing relay and connected them to the relay I added. Now the existing relay only work with the aqua stat and the relay I added only works the taco pump. Sound's about right but I'm bad at explaining things. I will take some pictures when I get some batteries.

It has been working great so far I have no more wasted coal. I'm using South Tamaqua coal pocket coal this year. I have the timer set a 1.5 minutes feed rate at 4 and air at 4.5 and it burning pretty nice. The temp in the boiler has been staying around 180 degrees. It's been 4 days since I had to empty the ash bucket & it's still only half way full. I finally did something right :D :D :D

When we see the pictures, I think we'll be looking at a triple aquastat and an R845A.

TZ thanks for the explanation...that sounds exactly like the wiring setup I did over last weekend. I'm currently waiting for a second relay (R845A) to come in the mail to hook up my other zone. I was out again last night so this time I"m 1.5 mins on the timer and 5/5 for feed. I got my coal across the creek at premium and I think I"m having problems with it this year. I think 5/5 is what will get me through with the different quality of coal. I never thought of that great side effect! I usually empty every other day in the winter and every 4/5 days in the summer. I might get more like 3 days between empties this way! I still hope that if I get it dialed in for feed again I should be set.

Sorry it's been a while I was work killer overtime. Here are the pictures of the box I added and the wiring. The boiler has been working great and using a lot less coal.

Sorry about the bad pictures but the boiler is close to the wall and the boxes are mounted on the back of the boiler.

Hope this helps anyone who is wanting to do this kind of setup.
