Weird, Can't Open Firefox

I restored my computer because it was acting funky and now I can't open Firefox. IE and GOOGLE Chrome open and browse fine, but no matter which way I try to open FF it does nothing. What's up with that?

My guess is someone is not playing fair. Goto FF FAQ section, and I bet you find a topic out this.
My 2 cents; its IE

upgrade to IE 8 and then reload FireFox from the Mozilla web site

I had the same problem, only it was reverse a year or two ago. I had IE and downloaded FF. Once it was up and running I couldn't use IE anymore. Uninstalled IE, then opened FF to go to Microsoft site to download IE and FF wouldn't even connect to Microsoft's web site. It connected to everything else fine though. I think I ended up uninstalling FF and used a windows CD to reinstall IE.

I actually have already done that, and now neither will open.
All I have left is Google Chrome.

You've rebooted? start with the obvious.

First thing I would do is go into Add/Remove and remove Firefox.

Go here and download file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378

That's MS's method of reinstalling as far as I can tell.

See if IE works, if so go get FF and reinstall.

Rebooted about 15 times now. I am trying to avoid removing FF as I have a bunch of stuff in the favorites I saved for my brother (who won't sit in front of a computer monitor ) and it took months to find it.

isn't it possible to remove FF yet keep the bookmarks?? Its been a while but I recall that's an option during the uninstall process

Either way -- you will have to go for it -- back ups save bookmarks -- did you do a back up?

When you uninstall something like it usually leaves the personal files or may even ask you when you go to uninstall, when you reinstall you may not have to do anything however it apparently backs them up frequently, try:

C:\Documents and Settings\<you login name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Default User\bookmarkbackups

That's where it's located on my machine. Copy the most recent file then restore it after reinstalling.

No that you mention that, I remember it to. I won't lose them now as I got windows to open and imported them to it.

Yes, it has that option when removing the program.

I had to download Microsoft Update Manager, that cured it. Works well now.
