25 minute meeting......and by now you know the lack of communication with him previously, ridiculous.

What should take so long, the gen. tells the pres. what he wants & why & the pres. says I`ll look into it. Again its a no win situation if he throws in more troops some will say hes wrong if he doesn`t some will say the same & some will say hes wrong either way. IMO this war should have been the only one we are in, Bush & co. put this on the back burner & went full bore into another. Maybe thats the new Rep. way just like Palin, go so far & then change direction even if the term isn`t up. Greed is still the deciding factor no matter if your left or right, rep. or dem. they all have their own best interest in mind, country is far down the list.

McChrystal gave his request back in August, it was "leaked" into the media, still no decision by the Commander in Chief, too busy I guess.

Back to the Olympics.

Ever recommended someone for an important job or interview? Their reputation becomes attached to yours so playing that card/favor is not to be taken lightly. Obungo expended a major amount of political capital on something non critical to the interest of the United States. On the world stage it shows weakness no matter how the media tries to spin the story.

Now we are supposed to believe he has the skills to sit down with a Holocaust denier who openly calls for annihilation of the Jewish State, please.

From what I saw all the other leaders involved must have spent some political capital also.

Obama didn't spend political capital on this. Other people in Chicago spent political capital getting Obama to get involved. Obama gave up no quid for this pro quo.

Totally different situation. The Olympics selection process is a zero sum game. Diplomacy and negotiation is decidedly not a zero sum game.

Aides refused to say whether Obama scolded McChrystal for his frank answer or his less-than-subtle campaign on behalf of his troop request. One adviser noted, however, that the meeting was arranged hastily after Obama realized that the two men would be close to each other in Europe during the president's effort to win the 2016 Olympics for Chicago. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/02/AR2009100201894.html

That summarizes my thoughts.

There are parallels. The IOC is a political game and wrought with corruption, something Obongo should be familiar handling.

Entering the arena without advanced knowledge of your position is foolish. Chicago only received 18 votes, the lack of support should have been easily ascertained by the bid committee team before wasting the leader of the free worlds time and the taxpayers money, more important matters for this country lay ahead.

Either the W.H. was completely fooled by the IOC or they themselves are fools. Neither bodes well for future engagements.
