First purchase of coal

PostBy: Lee1 On: Sun Oct 04, 2009 7:04 am

Just installed my Alaska stoker, It came with 2 tons of Reading rice (40 lb bags). I just orderd a ton of Jeddo rice (50 lb bags) $300 deliverd to house. 3 ton I believe will get me through winter (small ranch 1150 sq feet upstairs and basement where stove is) I fiqured I try the Jeddo rice and see how it compares to the reading. I am in upstate ny (near Sarotoga) and this price is actually pretty good here.

If you have the room to build a coal bin, and can get bulk delivery, you might save a few more bucks?

See if you can find a dealer who carries Blaschak and get some to compare with the other two brands.
The most important factor regarding how well a coal burner operates is the quality of the coal. I have burned Reading and Blaschak and many others, can't comment on Jeddo, never had any.

I burned Jeddo for two years, no complaints.
