Just Wanted to Mention
I'm a long time lurker, first time poster. I thought I would mention that if you live in Schuylkill County PA you can buy a Keystoker directly from them, no middle man. Cash and carry, then self install or pay someone to haul or install.
They do have a list of local plumbers that will do installs even though you didn't buy it from them. We picked it up after a six month wait and got away with just time and labor. Saved at least a grand or two on the install.

Tight install, good job. That sure looks like water piping and a circulator. Hmmmmm, if it heats water and looks like a BOILER, it damned sure ain't no furnace, by Gawd Mildred, it IS a boiler! (sorry, my pet peeve) :box:
This is the bin for now. I spent an hour cutting the old oil tank out, I should be about to fit about 6 tons in after I expand it this weekend. Storage isn't a problem here. I live within 10 miles of 5 breakers. After the bin I need to make a chute, I borrowed one to fill it before. I'm going to check the junkyards for a piece of alumunim diamondplate or steel and take it to a shop to get it bent.

You sure live in the right spot...and have the folks locally to make your installation even better. I'm not even asking what the boilers costs, or even coal, but if want to PM me I'd be happy with that. How much are you heating? What was the old boiler size you replaced? Hot water I assume, not steam. Thanks, Doug
Thanks, I didn't think to look there, I know I've seen some nice scrap at Acheys and Weiners already, and they'll sell it to you by weight. I just need about 2 ft by 6 ft and I'm good to go. If I can't find it there i'l swing by Lowes.
Thanks Again!
Thanks Again!

For a "cheap" chute, you could just make it out of wood and then cover the inside with some roll flashing available at any hardware store.

Thanks. that will be next weekends project. I'm going to double the coal bin this weekend, now that the tank is out of the way. Next weekend I want to get the chute finished, then I can top it off for the winter. I figure 5-6 tons should easily take me until summer. I'm using a gallon galvanized bucket to fill the hopper ( a 5 gal hits the joists above). I'm using about a bucket to a bucket and a half a day for heat and hot water. That doesn't seem to bad. Either way it's way cheaper than oil.

Wow! Eight to twelve pounds of coal a day to heat your hot water. Those boilers sure are coal meisers.

Keystoker...The "Prius" of Coal Boilers. Very impressive usage numbers reflected by other users also.
