hello
does anyone have any good working ideas or picture of a rice coal storage in a basement.
I saw a good setup - a guy took a gravity grain feeder put it outside and ran through his basement wall with a slide door ,but I cant find a small grain feeder.

I just have a plywood 2x 8x4 now and it stinks when the coal gets low, because i have go in it with a 5 gal. busket to get coal.

any info or pictues would be great thanks; :)

Not sure how your setup is but if you have a box and are referring to crawling over the box your best bet is to build access that goes right to the ground. In other ways a doorway. Cut lengths of wood the width of doorway. As the coal is is being placed in the bin put the slats in the doorway. To better exaplin it some people build it like a guillotine.

Leave a small space about 6 inches at the bottom. You can shovel the coal from this space and remove the slats as the coal is removed. Once all the slats are gone you simply walk into the bin.

If you are referring to getting it to the hopper....well good luck. You need some sort of mecahnism like a auger or as your friend used fgravity feed. Be aware rice coal needs a pretty good pitch to run by gravity.

Here's some pictures of my bin. It's 8'X8' and 4' high in the front. I built a 42" slotted door way in which you can slide in 6" deck boards to whatever height desired.
