Got my coal for the winter.

I had Phelps and sons in Vernon deliver three tons of pea this morning. $240 a ton.

Now I have to shovel into my "inside bin" in my back entry room. One shovel at a time . My new bin should hold between 1.5 to 2 tons. Good thing I rebuilt the floor this spring.

Use 5 gallon pails with the handles, carry 2, 50 trips is 2 ton.

Took a pallet full of bags into the basement on monday, I figured two at a time only 30 trips insread of 60. Two days later I still feel like maybe that wasn`t such a good idea, theres a lot things about being older that I don`t like.

I know what you mean, I discovered I never really liked carrying all that weight down the stairs. Then I found out a bag of blaschack will walk down the stairs like a slinky if you stand it up on the top step and push it over. Wump, wump, wump, wump, wump. It's not only easier, it's fun!

If the 5 gal bucket holds 40 lbs of coal not all of them buckets do 40lbs x 50 buckets is 2000lbs one ton
Two tons would be 100 buckets at 40 lbs . most of the buckets hold 33 to 37lbs of coal some of the taller ones will hold 40 to 42 lbs of coal .I have one out of the 34 buckets that I use that will hold 55 lbs alot of the buckets are 3.5 to 4.6 gals some are 40lb to 50lb powder detergent buckets they do not hold that much coal .

The pile of coal is about 8 feet from my bin and through a door. In the past I have done the bucket thing, but for the short distance I have to carry it I find one shovel at a time easier.

Wow, thats the perfect setup to use an auger. Couple hundred bucks, plug it in, and sit back and watch your bin be filled

I love 5 gallon buckets! I have 25 tons of coal here on the property, and almost all of it was brought here via 5 gallon buckets. I prefer to use the over sized rectangular cat litter buckets. I can fit 40 of them in my truck at a time, which is 1600 pounds. They are easy on the hands as well!
