HI Freddy, Raining here and about 40 but 75 inside. I'm going out for breakfast this morning. My wife and I are meeting Coaledsweat at Dennys. He has got an Alxeman Anderson he is trying to get up and running. It is in pieces in his basement right now. He had to take it down stairs to get it in the basement

If you remember, last week I told you about the alarm on my ICD (implanted defib).

Well, Wednesday I head to Boston to have it changed out. The procedure is supposed to last about two hours and a few hours in recovery then I head home.

At least I get to keep the old one.

On a brighter note, I finished filling my "inside bin" . So that is one job off my list. I just have a couple more jobs to do (if it stops raining) before Wednesday.

Sorry, I had to go up north for three days to do some work at north camp.... but I used my microwave so I did the entire three days in just 6 hours.

Here's a pic of the anti boom device. A solenoid from an autoclave drives a finger that opens the view port door. Each time the boiler get's the signal to shut off, the anti-boom device opens the door for 10 seconds. The fan & auger remain on. This flushes out any explosive gasses so we don't have a repeat of photo that Coalkirk posted. ;) I'm not much with electronics. When I first had the idea I thought "Simple, add a 10 second timer and each time it shuts off it will actuate the solenoid and purge for 10 seconds". So.... I got a timer, wired it up. The first time I tried it.... boiler shut off, instantly the solenoid operates, the fan keeps running & it opens the door for ten seconds and shuts off and opens the door for ten seconds and shuts off , opens the door for ten seconds and shuts off, opens the door for ten seconds and shuts off. Ohhhh noooo, that's not going to work! So, I added another timer and a relay. That almost worked, but just paused between the circle of cycles LOL. Added another relay and a ...what do they call those one way streets for electricity?... I added one of those and now it works properly. I'm sure there's some simpler way, but it works & that's all I care about.

For first time AA lighters.... the reason that I has spectacular booms the first 2 or 3 days was too much coal. This year I put in 4 or 5 gallons of ash (saved from last year), then coal on top of that. If the entire chamber is filled with coal, well, ka-BOOM!
