The price will always be the cheapest late Spring until mid august or possibly into September.

Our dealers keep the same price most of the year...usually get mine in Aug, before the late fall/early winter rush.

Local dealers used to have Spring and Summer reductions just
to keep the stock and schedule moving. The breakers set a price
about every six months and it does not move up or down. Unless
some unforeseen miracle happens, coal will creep up about 5-10 dollars
a ton every year.

It all depends on the dealer. I use bagged coal. I get mine in Jun or early Jul and my dealer has been known to give me last year's price because it frees up his storage lot/inventory for the new shipments. The plastic bags get very rigid over time due to exposure to the elements. They start to spilt open and make a big mess for him. I don't mind mess so it works out well for me. Lisa

I bought 2 ton from Hudson last month for $140. I came here to report that the price had dropped from $150 as it was last year. Then I seen it was $130 over the summer
Just picked up 3 ton yesterday at $150/ton.
