We are burning anthracite in the MidCoast and know of a few others in the area (that are not forum members). We will start the stove in mid November and run till mid April using about 4 tons.

I do! I do!

I know of four others within 20 miles of me. Two boilers, a stoker, and a hand feeder. One is a forum member, but only checks in on rare occasion.

There are at least 50 of us in the Saint John Valley that burn the black gold. Everyone I talk to says they love it. Coal is cheaper here than downstate. :?

I'm in South Thomaston. I know of one other guy in town here. We're both burning hand fired Harmans. There are more in the Waldaboro and Dammariscotta area. They sell the black stuff in those two towns and in Union.Bagged only I believe. I can't believe no one sells coal in the immediate Rockland and Thomaston area. I keep telling the Mrs. if I have a windfall :D , Im going into the coal business. I bet one them Home depot trucks with the fork-lift on back would work nicely.

I am just starting my second heating season with a Keystoker 105. We are in Gorham, outside of Portland. Used 3 tons last year to heat a 2,800 SF house.

Jim, where are you buying your coal?

I am in Windham running an Econo stove and my father is in Gorham running an Alaska Channing III.

I'm in Readfield -- just northwest of Augusta. Starting my third season. About 4 tons a year in a drafty old house without good insulation.

In Presque isle into my second season with coal. There were four of us at work last year that went to coal when the oil thing was upon us last year. Love heating with coal especially after putting my grand mothers 7 cord of hard wood in the cellar!! Should be a law about 85 year old women buying 7 cord of tree length hard wood each year, gota love her. :D

Located in "The County" - Easton, Axeman Anderson 260 burning pea coal for winter heat, have 2 Alaska stokers burning rice for fall and spring heat, use about 8-10 tons a year to heat the 100+ yo farm house. Been running the AA boiler for 15 years - in the process of a steam to hot water conversion. Who needs steam radiators - have 9 that need a home.
