Local Natural Gas Price DROP! WOW

In January 2009 our local natural gas cost was $13.26 per Mcf, Now it has dropped to $3.61 per Mcf!

What the heck is going on.

I still plan on running the Channing III, don't trust the gas company, plus the coal heat is a lot more even and far more comfortable.

Might have to look at a cost comparison chart though.

Holy crapper! That IS a huge drop! I never realized it was that high, although I'm not familiar with the system of how gas is sold - never lived in a house with gas service - just oil.

Oil went down in late September/early October, but is on it's way up now - just around the time when everyone needs it! Glad I topped off the house & barn before it shot up. $2.17/gallon I paid 2 weeks ago. Now it's $2.47 at the same company!!!!

According to that calculator, $2.17 a gallon for oil is the same as paying $376/ton of coal!!

The gas charge was 1.24 per ccf last year and is .49 this year...
almost a third less...
but they nail me on the delivery fees.

It costs more for the delivery charge than the amount of NG I use for DHW, cooking and dryer.
I look at total delivered cost of $1.183 per ccf this year.
