ROAD TRIP! I saw an LL Pioneer LE on Craigs list. It's only about an hour from here. IT's a rear vent & comes with coal-trol. My buddy with the Jamesway and Vigilant has been thinking of a stoker. I don't think he can go wrong. It's 5 months old, asking $2,000....but John offered $1,500 and the guy said yes! Sooo...off we go! Oh, sure.... I told my wife we should get it for north camp & she said no,,, now that John wants it she's changed her mind!! Arghhhh! Do you want that bridge two lanes or four?

HA! Sounds like another good one Freddy.
My wife does that too:
"No, we don't need that"
1 hour later:
"Maybe we could use that"

Great find! A guy at work just found an even greater deal. I don't know for sure if it was a Pioneer but it was an LL with the Coal-trol plus 2 ton of rice. $800. Made the switch form wood pellets look even smarter :!:

Freddy, you've got yourself quite a column on this forum. Thanks for your efforts :!:   I don't think I'm alone judging from the amount of participation, but I look forward to reading your thread every Saturday morning - sometimes before you even start the day's tread. I find myself looking for your column before I even pick up the newspaper. If there's a Coalitzer Prize for interactive columns, you're nominated and I'm sure I won't be waiting long for some one to second the motion. So thanks again and super Kudos to ya for doing something everyone looks forward to!

Beans an water for me, hold the cream and sugar :D I'll be here every Saturday.

Good afternoon everyone.

This past Wednesday I went to Boston and had my ICD (Defibrillator) replaced. With all the poking, pulling, twisting and turning the doctor had to do to get the old one out I'm sore as heck. Thank goodness for Percocet.

And now I'm not supposed to do any lifting for about a couple of weeks. I guess I'll have to carry a quarter of a bucket of coal per trip to fill my stove.

My last defib was named "Sparky" now I need a name for the new one. Any suggestions?

Hi guys,

What with the rain and everything we got a jump of the crowds and went the "Discount Mall" to see what we could see. Didn't see much as it turns out but had a nice breakfast out and brought one of those new fangled "sleep number" air beds.
Hopefully, it will give us a better night sleep for our backs and the aches and pains of middle age. I'd be more excited about it but it won't actually come for 2 or 3 weeks.

As Freddy eluded, I have my dust problem under control. He made me a custom ash pan cover for my Mark II that is something to write home about. Just that has greatly reduced the dust but I also brought my shop vac upstairs - it now sits in the corner of my stove room - and use it everytime the stove door is open. Just pointing it in the general direction of the stove is enough to keep a lot of the dust from escaping. I also have been working on my manometer and have it all ready to go but no fire, hence no draft, to test it on. I'm still bummed out over that. I anticipate another 3 or 4 weeks until I light up again. I hope everyone is having a geat weekend. Take care, Lisa

Back from the road trip. What a day! We brought the LL home to Johns house & replaced the Vigilant with it. Got it hooked up to the chimney & had one heck of a time to get it lit! We had no mice, no starter bags, so John tried making a wood fire on the grate...wasn't so great. Granted we didn't have much draft, but, gosh, he just wasn't having any luck at all. I said it was my turn.... cleaned off his mess, went down to the cellar and dove into the Jamesway...brought up a shovel full of burning coal, dumped it on the grate of the LL & in 10 min we had burning rice. After a while, yowza, that bad boy was a-cranking! We had to actuate the window stats just to stay in the same room LOL. When I left it was starting to calm down. I think it'll make him a good unit.

Name the defib, huh? Hmmmm.... "Lecto".... "Fibly"....""Jag"

VigII, Congrats on post #500!
I'm glad Sat coffee get's us together. It's almost like we learn sumthin' each week. :) Next week.... a special snack will give us the sugar we need for the day. I'll bet you a coffee can of rice coal you're never seen this one!

Tell John to buy a $5 bag of cheap pellets. It'll last many years. One or two cups of pellets across the grates, sprinkle with alcohol, bank the rice coal up alongside the pellets, and lite
Seriously, it works everytime for me, and its cheap.

I've has a Select Comfort bed for about 10 years now, I miss it every time I'm somewhere else and have to sleep on a "old fashioned inner-spring" mattress.

Been there, done that!

I really am excited about getting this bed. We've needed a new bed for quite a while but they are sooooo expensive. Just when we had the cash something else of a higher priority always came up. Ha, not today. :D I used to have a waterbed and loved it, I hope I can develop the same relationship with this bed. Have a great rest of the weekend! Lisa

We got 2.51" yesterday, guess there won't be any 'dusty' back roads for a while. 42 at 06:00, sun coming up slowly, must be waterlogged......
Lots of leaves gone yesterday, guess all those with no fire in the stove will be thinking about it very soon.
Enjoy the outdoors today, it's gonna be a beauty! :D
