but to see the government response as a political move is beyond my power of reasoning.

I understand your point. My opinion is that the Federal government should not and has no right to meddle in my healthcare (or lack of).

If the flu turns out not too badly, then these same people will be blaming Obama for much ado about nothing. If it turns out very badly, they will be blaming him for not doing enough
.

Agreed. I don't see any problem with the government making the vaccine available for anyone who wants (to risk) it. I don't want them to tell me I have to take it.

Exactly. I'll be DAMNED if ANYONE is gonna tell me wtf to take. When I was a child my own mother couldn't convince me to do what she wanted .....

If I didn't die working the job I used to work in the crappiest city on the east coast (well, one of them at least...) then I never will. You wouldn't believe what some nasty people would put out for recycling. Had to have a tough immune system to work that job. My first 3 days there I got so sick I had to take a week off! Not a good first impression.... I used to laugh at all the new guys that would go thru the same thing. Most would, but not all. I think those guys were from the c(sh)itty ..... immune to the disease!

When I was living in Phoenix, I caught something that I'll never be able to explain. Doctors said it was flu, but man, I felt & looked like I was on deaths door. It started when I was grinding rust out from under the carpet of my '72 El Camino. Was sneezing the rest of the night. Went to school the next day, nose running non-stop (which is nothing new to me with allergies, but was unusual since I moved to AZ), itching & burning,& sneezing every 5 minutes. Then it just hit me like a bus -- suddenly went from being perfectly fine (except for the nose) to being hardly able to stand. The drive home was torture!! Every joint in my body felt like it was on fire. I dragged myself into the house & laid down on my Wal-Mart air mattress ( my bed ) unable to do anything but squirm in pain. My buddy stopped by & said I was white as a ghost, and INSISTED that I go to the hospital. I wanted no part of that. Ended up spending 2 hours there -- which was the worst torture of my life -- couldn't get comfortable, every position mad my bones feel like they were on fire! Get in there finally & the doctor tells me to take Robitussin & aspirin. THANKS DOC! ALL THAT PLUS A $200 BILL!

So I do as he says, & the Robitussin mixed with my asthma meds, plus the fact that I was half dead .... now my heart is beating 200+ times per minute at least, I have sweat pouring out & I'm in a full blown panic for some unknown reason! Doctors know best, right? What a friggin experience that was! Took a solid week before I felt somewhat normal ... & I was only 25 then!

Yep .... another product of ONE-PARTY RULE in the great nanny state of MA.

They don't want to challenge some of us on that bill. The headlines would be bad press for the party. ;)

99% of the people who have contracted swine flu have had it mild and recovered without hospitalization. It doesn't seen to be all that nasty a flu. I should mention I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. Just my observations and opinion.

This is a test of the New World Order Population Control Commission. This is only a test. Had it been a real emergency, the looming One World Government wanted to know how pliable the population is.
Please return to your homes and await instructions on how to transfer your wealth to third world countries. Please do not use U.S.A. in your correspondance, as this is passe, and not applicable to the New Socialist Planet. Thank you citizen of the world and have a pleasant evening.

A little plug for your own self importance huh Rberq? I have 5 IT guys in my family, one is a Global System Manager for an international chemical corp. one is a VP of IT for a hugh insurance firm, and the other was the head of IT for north america for an international paper co. I don't think you had any affect on the outcome of Y2k at all. It was a non event. Try polishing your apple with someone else. This swine flu is beyond the control of Obama and co. It "may" mutate at any time as may any one of 100 other diseases. Hell, this bunch can't even keep a promise to have the vaccine ready. Just another lie.

True, and that is reassuring. But it's a weird one. Typical flu kills perhaps 50 young children per year. This one has already killed 100. Typical flu kills those over 65. This one is killing an unusual number of young, healthy adults.

Well fellas I tell ya, I have taken the vaccine, I waited in line for 3 hours, the vaccine was free to all that wanted it. It's been 72 hours and I feel fine, no headache, no fever, no nothing, still have a good appetite.
The 3 hour wait well it was in the rain, lots of people waiting when I got there 2 hours before they were going to give the shots. Where I was they didn't run out of vaccine they ran out of people to give it too. Everyone was nice and orderly, they never asked for I.D., never asked how much you made, never asked where you lived. They did ask if you were sick, if you were sick then no vaccine.
They gave me a tag that they had written down the lot number and date of manufacture of the vaccine in front of me and I initialed, in case some thing did go wrong or I became ill.
All in all it was great.
I'll keep you posted as time goes by this flu season as to my health.

They gave you a tag because this vaccine has not passed or been given human trials.
It may or may not be effective. If the virus mutates we're all screwed even those who
had the vaccine.
Have a good day.

Personally if I can get the shot I`m going to get it. This is normally just the very beginning of the flu season & this one has no signs of slowing down. I wouldn`t even attempt to try to influence anyone else on what choice to make its a personal one, what ever someone does its up to them I just hope that everyone stays healthy & hopefully it is blown out of proportion but who knows. For this one at least my old age seems to be in my favor(that sure doesn`t happen too often).thats the worse part about this one, it doesn`t follow normal patterns.
