Not seeing many NEW people

Not seeing many NEW people

PostBy: Paulie On: Sat Oct 24, 2009 10:21 pm

Whats up? Is everyone going for the tax break on the wood-pellet stoves, by passing the coal? Oil is sleeping, it is not
dead. I am thinking 3./gal is the break point to push people into coal. I know it did for me!

Last Sunday-6 new members, Monday-7, Tuesday-3, Wednesday-5, Thursday-8, Friday-3, Today-3, so new people are joining. Some never post, some post once or twice and wander away, some get caught up in all the fun and wild times we have here.

Also, we have no way of knowing if anyone joins up with the intention of being very active on the forum and then subsequently falls prey to some sort of tragedy: Devoured by large animal, struck by a bolt of lightning, falls into black hole, joins the Oil Forum, becomes Obama staff member, etc.

Thursday had 8 new people and 5 of them posted. ;)

Also keep in mind the "total Members" number is more accurate than most forums. I purge unused accounts occasionally.

Can't tell unless they post their location, check it out, click the Members icon on the bottom right of the page then click on the "Joined" heading to regroup the list with the newest member first.

Naaaw - most people from MA couldn't be caught dead in front of their friends with a coal stove. They have to keep that image up .... ya know what I mean .... 4,000 sq.ft. hip-hoof colonial, 2 brand new euro cars in driveway, 3.2 kids, the barking dog that they can't spend 30 seconds with because of soccer practice, yoga, Obama rallies,etc....... :fear: :what:

 Oh, I know that tends to happen near every big city across America. Just seems more prevalent in MA .... maybe it's because we're all jammed into a tiny state together...

I think with the moderate/lower fuel prices and the drop in Oil, people are not rushing out to buy alternatives.

Yeah there hasn't been anyone freaking out in the local paper around here this winter. I got oil right at the right time (for once!) - I paid $2.17 on the 2nd .... that same place is at $2.53 now!

White picket fence, some kind of -doodle dog and the perfect lawn...
Not the crazy crush of people like last year...
But a steady volume once the cold hit...
Pellet people...
They like the convenience of pellets...
Flick a switch makes heat...
Kind of like a coal stoker...
But coal is...
Dirty...

I find home coal burning is a "dirty little secret" best not discussed with most of the population!

How so many are misled I'll never know!

Perhaps because too many people accept (and even like) that it is a "dirty little secret" best not discussed with most of the population?

People will not learn unless you, me, and everyone else here evangelize the benefits of coal heating. Most will still choose to stick with their oil/NG/propane, at least until the next petro price spike, but at least they'll know what they're missing out on and perhaps will pass the idea on to those they know that are considering alternative heating.

Knowing is half the battle.
Only you can prevent forest fires.
etc.
