LOL! I can sight identify most cars from the 60's to the 80's. I got it from my dad who can tell most cars from the 50's at night from 100 yards just by the headlights/tail lights.
It's one of those gifts that you don't have the receipt for so you can't return it for something useful!
Fighting With the WESO
I've burned a WESO for ten years, use chesnut coal. I light it off with Match Light charcoal. Have fired it continuously day for a month or more many times. Burns over night. Can also maintain a low fire on warm days. Though I usually don't start using it until December when it is cold enough to keep a good draft in the flue.

How often do you need to tend it?
I can't RELIABLY get it to go more than 8 hours safely. I've been working 13 hour days lately so you can see the problem.
I think it's just because the fire box on the WESO is a bit smaller than my Mk I. Not really that it's a "bad" stove.
Which model do you have? Air intake in the back or the later one with the intake on the ash door? I understand the later models are a little better. Of course I have the older one.
Good to know someone out there is having success.

I probably tend it morning, noon and night if I am home. If not I bank the stove and tend it morning and night. At night I shake it down vigorously, and load the firebox to the top of the teeth in the front...("bank the furnace") then open to air vent usually using the thermostat control since I nearly always "RUN" the stove on the fixed damper. In the morning I repeat the evening process, but fire the stove more vigorously if I am home. Stay close by ...because When the "Load" is hot enough to start off gas-ing (Blue flame), I close the thermostat damper, and set the fixed damper for a low fire. Otherwise, most of the heat you are generating will simply warm the air and rush up the stack.
We'll save a discussion on the effectiveness of the thermostat / auto damper for a later time.
