What do you have for health insurance & what does it cost? I have insurance through my wife as she works at the hospital. We just got notice that as of January first it is going from $10,764 a year to $40,924. Riiiiiiiiiiiight. If it were only her, it would be $6,630. So.... I am about to be without insurance unless I can find something more reasonable than $34,294 a year. Sheeesh! That's crazy! Do they really expect people to be able to afford that? I mean, we could afford the forty grand if we stopped spending money on silly things like car, food, electricity, phone, internet, everything!

at my job they health insurance is covered by the company and they pay 768 dollars a month per employee. so thats 9216 a year. thats crazy how much they are raising the insurance just to have 2 people on it. whats the reason for it to jump over 30 grand just for one other person?

We have been without health insurance since Oct 2008 when I was laid off. Could not afford the "Affordable" Cobra. The state insured the kids with Medicaid 90 days after I was laid off, but my wife and I are still uninsured. Good thing we are healthy! (Knock-on-wood)

They are telling you that they don't want anybody 55 years old on their roles.
Tell the hospital to find another company or you'll just come in without
insurance. They have to take you and you need to make and attempt to pay.
$10.00 a week sounds good to me.

The plan we have now is around $980 a month for the family plan. But we had to increase our co-pay amount to keep it affordable. Otherwise it would be about $300 more.

It sounds like the hospital where your wife works is trying to get you to switch plans. :o

I have the Jack *censored* Insurance Company. My coverage is limited to the Pray To Jesus plan... but I'm not too worried, if the Public Option gets shot down by those horrible horrible Republicans; I'll just wait for The New World Order Health Insurance Plan; coming soon after Obama cedes US Sovereingty in December.
Or if all that doesn't come to pass, I'll try to sneak across the border into Mexico, then sneak back under the assumed name Juan Motime.
I already have The Smith and Wesson Retirement Plan, but before I take it, I hope to spend some time with my friends Marlboro Red and Jack Daniels.

$70/mo for only me. $20 co-pay, no deductible, no referrals for specialists, and free preventative health care.

My spouse pays nothing.

If you think it's bad now wait till you have to go to a nursing home for care when your older. Right now it's 80 grand a year, 80 grand!. You know how many whores would take care of you if you paid them 80 grand a year sheesh. your butt would shine it would be so clean, lol.
I don't know if this new insurance thing that the President wants is the right way to go or not but I do know that what is happening now is wrong. Living just shouldn't cost so much, and dieing should cost you half of everything you have.
We all, and I mean "all" should have the same insurance as the President! He his staff his Czars, Cabinet, Congress and Senate are all paid by us, so why are they given perks that we can't even afford for ourselves? I can't wait till the time comes that we are all equal again.

We just got our package. $138/wk for the family and no more 100% coverage on anything. 90/10 for all expenses and I gotta come up with the first $3500 PLUS $200 PER PERSON(x5).

And if my wife was eligible for insurance anywhere else, they'd whack me for another $100 month.

Funny how the person who gets the best deal wants the rest of us to pay for them.....

I'm a federal employee so I'm on a government health plan. It's with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC). We have a choice of about 5 or 6 plans to choose from. I chose NALC over Blue Cross Federal this year and will stick with it for next year. The premiums are lower and the co-pays are less. I pay $115 for myself and my family every 2 weeks. The government pays about $350 every 2 weeks. That's a total of about $930 per month to the insurance company! That's insane! I was informed the other day that our premiums will go up 12% next year!

The reason health insurance is soooooo expensive is because of hospital costs. Hospital costs are insane! 2 years ago my son had to be sent to another hospital by the Lifeflight Helocopter. The bill was $12,000! It was a 2 hour round trip flight! After spending almost 4 weeks in the Pediatric ICU, the total bill for everything eg., MRI's, Xrays, Doctor bills, etc. was $290,000! We were left with about $8,000 in copays. Believe me, I was happy to pay it! As long as I can afford to have it, I will.

When I'm president. The first thing I would do is fine any company caught employing illegal alliens, lets say $10k a head. Then I would take that money and use it to help send them back to their country of origin. After a year or so there would be nothing left but Americans, LEGAL alliens and LEGAL immigrants. Amost instantly there would be jobs for all that wants one. The police would be able to keep up with their duties, because crime would be about half what it is now. When you go to the emergency room the lines of illegals waiting to be seen for a common cold or to bare an anchor baby would be gone. Most importantly as far as this thread is concerned your insurance would drop like a stone. Next would be tort reform.... :D

Maybe that person thinks that all Americans are entitled to similar coverage? Health care shouldn't be a privilege for those lucky enough to have a good employer that provides good benefits.

Oh, and dental? Good there too - I just confirmed they will cover an implant at 50% which is about 50% more than most dental plans cover.

And vision coverage with a new pair of glasses each year - gotta stay stylin' after all.

My family can thank a union for good coverage. You won't be paying anything for me as long as I remain employed.

Wait until you get your wish.....

Who do you think pays for your great coverage? It's not "free" as is advertised with national health insurance.

Tell me what you know about the 1945 McCarran-Ferguson Act. In my research, it tells me that insurance companies can COLLUDE to FIX PRICES.

Harry Reid threatened to repeal it if the insurance companies didn't play ball. Why would that be a threat? Maybe because it would open up competition(you know, the ALLEGED reason for this exercise) and lower prices for everyone?

This in addition to the 1973 HMO Act are two of the reasons health insurance is so expensive. That, combined with Medicare.
