Yes there called wood pellets saw dust . If you can control the air /fire from backing threw the auger tube and in the the bin and not have a fire in it . I suppose you counld burn saw dust but I would stick to what the efm was design for Anthracite coal
it would make an interesting Science project auger would not work, fire would follow auger back to hopper. Need some kind of Pusher-bar system. A FAST pusher-Bar system. And NO, I'm not trying it in my DVC-500.
Saw dust is usually too wet -- It always packs tight and plugs most feed systems. If it does feed it may suddenly slug a pile of sawdust in the burn pot - that may burn quickly causing an out fire because all fuel is consumed before more can be delivered
Chips are inconsistent in size \\ again causing inconsistent feed
You need something designed specifically for chips and chunks feeding and burning, and a boiler that can eat hi moisture fuel into heat energy!
Nowhere does it say that a Coal Stoker will burn anything else. The title seems to give it away, and none of us would be willing to become the leading candidate for 'Village Idiot Engineer'. Having said that, too many Jethro's are caught up in the hot water furnace dilema. Must be city folks, the rest of us sure know better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( That should wind up the Urban folks!)
