Lisence plates in New York

PostBy: gitrdonecoal On: Sat Oct 31, 2009 10:57 am

so yet again, us the general public are gonna suffer yet again because of the states budget deficit. beginning in april 2010 when you re register your car you have to buy a new plate for 25 bucks. im sick of this state. if i didnt have close ties to my community (my construction business, the fire dept, family) i would have left a while ago. when will patterson quit? its funny when the president suggests you not run for re election!

YUP, sucks again! Your Drivers License fees, everything else is going up, NOW License plates...geesh.
even the 5 hour pre-licencing class was FREE, now it's like $50!!!

I see there is a $10 usage fee now on our SUV and my TRUCK on the registration.

There a petition already started for stop it, but probably won't do anything.
http://www.nysenate.gov/press-release/s ... -mandate-2

We have 4 vehicles and a motorcycle and utility trailer, that gonna hurt to re-register them next year!!! :(

Then they wonder why NY State is loosing 8% of its population everything year!

Did you see Tom Golasono (PayChex Founder and owner of the Buffalo Sabres), he moved to FL (legal residence) and now saves like $14,000/day in taxes from NY!!! WOW.

Most of my family lives in NYS, from Owego to Syracuse. I was born in Albany. Wanted to move up there for years, but I look at the property taxes, and the crazy volatile predicament the USA is in; I gotta just lay low for now.

When is the last time they forced you to get new plates? Do they have time limit for them?

They did that here in PA about 10 or 15 years ago when they switched the style of the plate but some of the plates floating around were ancient. Some were barely legible.

The upgrade is like $10 additional to the new plates, but if you want to keep your old plates, it's like $25 more?

Its been quite a few years, I think when the switch from the Liberty plates.?can't remember.

yup, got my good work truck, my winter beater, her car, and 3 trailers. NYS loves me. another thing im waiting for those people to figure out: the state made me, along with every other contractor, landscaper, ect, get DOT numbers for the side of my truck. if ya own a business in our field and haul a trailer, you need the numbers. if i didnt have a trailer i dont. my friend can hook on the same trailer and wouldn need them cause he does not own a business. what a crock. BUT, 3 years ago when i had to get them, they are free to have. im sitting back and waiting for the first politician to figure out "hey, all these idiots have these numbers and dont pay for them! lets charge them $50 a year!" just wait.

Count yourself lucky that you don't live downstate and are either an employer or self employed. I'm self employed and the MTA tax is going to cost me hundreds. I can't imagine what small employers are going to do.

These jerks raised the cost of hunting licences like 30%. Non residents are huge now. With all the great hunting we have, I think the stupid lawmakers are shooting themselvses in the foot because who the hell wants to pay 400 bucks for an out of state license. All that revenue going elsewhere. And to top it off the ***k's are making us pay an additional 15 bucks to go striper fishing in the Hudson. Federal waters :x

Someone said NYS will raise 153 Million $$$ from new plates! :D
The problem I have with that is that ANYTHING NYS DOES COST MORE TO ADMINISTRATE THAN IT TAKES IN.
By the time hire a new Plate Czar and his set up statewide network of Plate Cops and buy latests and greatest new Plate Punch Machines it will end up costing New Yorkers 1.5 billon More than it was to take in.
Thru all this budget fiasco all I hear is no no no no to cuts......Not one word about reality and the fact NY has the most EXPENSIVE,BLOATED ,OVER PAID,OVER STAFFED Duplication of services ....on and on it goes....Life as usual when we are RULED by Profesional Politicians...They will always find a way to pick your pockets :( And stay in power....)
Has everyone forgot the spectacle they made of the state this summer while playing like a playground group of children while the budget mess got worse and worse all the time trying to blame it on the other guys....(chains on doors, slasher switching sides, stepping into room and being tallied as voting)
The one's to blame are you and me.... and to prove this just watch the election results Tuesday evening :P :P :P
Remember what everyone forgets... Politicians are politicians

here is what i would do in a perfect world. lots of people on welfare milking the system that can get off their buts and work. now there is a place in my heart for that woman with 4 kids that just lost her husband and she needs help, yes i understand this. BUT, get these people on the farms in place of mexicans. NOW, migrant workers are the hardest working people i ve seen. i used to work for a 14,000 acre farm, growing cucumbers, squash, cabbage, corn, dairy, and many many more things. they picked cucumbers making 60 cents a basket and made 600 to 700 bucks a week, do the math. work their ass off. but we have to pay for their housing, schooling for kids, medical, list goes on and on. make the welfare recipients do this so we can do away with 75% of welfare and get away from all the fringe benefits from the mexicans. keep dreaming, i know

Well put, Gitrdonecoal. Why is it that regular Americans have the best ideas? I hear it all the time, in conversations in diners, restaurants, people's backyard barbeques, in stores, everywhere people have a chance to talk.

They are not raising taxes just imposing new fees. the bottle law, the are raising the handling fee for redemption and now they want to charge not only on carbonated bev's. but water, snapple's and the likes and they want a percentage of unredeemed deposits turned over to the state. these unredeemed deposits used to offset some of the distributor cost of handling recycling returnables. the cost of your beverage of choice is going up in good old N.Y.S. no "Tax" just more "Fee's. WAY TO GO DAVE! hope he is looking for his next job!
