This will be my first year burning coal. I need to hook up a powervent for the oil furnace yet but want to start checking coal prices. Where is a place some what local to york, PA to get good quality coal at a fair price? I am looking for 2 - 3 tons of nut coal. Delivered or I can pick it up (dad has a dodge diesel and a dump trailer). Willing to drive with in reason if price justifys it. Thanks

Superior or Meadowbrook would be about an hour plus ride for you.
If you go to Superior, you'll pass Summit Coal on the way.
This summer Superior was cheaper than Meadowbrook.
You can get coal in Ravine, Pa too.

You can get blaschak or superior from kuntz and sons. They are right off of red top rd. off of rt 39, just a few miles south of rt 22 intersection. The superior is about $200 a ton. I'd call for more accurate pricing and directions. They do delivery, but i am not sure on how far they go.

I went up with Coal Burner the other month and got some from all of the mines. Coal from the Little Buck mine has been excelent but durty and while I know Coal Burner is going to burn me for this Black Shack (spelling?) has been doing really quite well but does not burn very hot. I have also been burning some Stockton and that has been burning quite hot.

Thanks,
Glenn

Spelled Blaschak. What do you expect when the coal comes right out of the ground and does not go threw a breaker you will have a little fines in it could of washed it up there before we filled the bags up they will burn in a stove & stoker's

Well next time we will have to wash that coal before load out. I started some of the UAE nut and it is burning quite well with a nice slow burn and good heat.

Thanks,
Glenn

i live a couple hundred yards from a breaker, and i still drive 13 miles to superior for coal.......they have been the most consistent in quality and the scale and the breaker are easy to get in and out of........york isnt far from here, you are better off coming up this way to the source for the best price

I've used Sterner's out of Hanover.

He came highly recommended from a friend and is real friendly and delivered my 6 tons without a hitch.

He even cleaned up the small mess from loading my bin.
