What's typical for MIN / MAX values on a Pocono TV?

PostBy: TurboJoe On: Thu Nov 05, 2009 7:14 pm

Just wondering what other people are using..
I have my MIN at 3 and MAX at 20.
I usually have about 2 in of ash on the end of the burner.
Though I just turned the MAX to 25 as an experiment.
I'm burning about one 5 gl bucket of coal per day lately.

Seems low, but if its not going out on your, great! I think the setup numbers for most LL are min 6 and max 40.

When burning max (raise your room temp up 5-8 degrees) and let it run for an hour or so until you reach FR99 (feed rate), do you have about 1" of ash? if not, then you can increase the max a few points at a time and keep checking it. if pushing coals off the end, back it down.
It's kinda of experiment, each stove (and coal) is slightly different, so you just have to play a bit to get max output without wasting.

As Dave said the way to check is set the stove to Max in the setup menu and let it run for an hour or so, if you can get the grate full of burning coals with a half inch or so ash on the end you should be at about max heat. Just remember the max and min tale a bit of time to stabilize so make sure you don't over do it.

The values will vary but as Dave said min 6 and max 40 is a good starting point.

... and I'm setting it at 3 (stays lit) and 34 (higher and I get a little wastage). Man does this thing pump out heat. A chair 6 feet in front was at 110 degrees (dist fans permanently on max) , I don't know how the cat stands it but he loves it. What does baked pu ssycat (don't wish to be censored) smell like? :partyhat:
