New ash bin handle design on the Pioneer LE Back Vent

New ash bin handle design on the Pioneer LE Back Vent

This makes taking out the ashes a breeze plus it's so much less stress on the back compared to using
the two small handles mounted on the bin from factory.

Just an idea to toss out there.

I like it, I may do that to my Hyfire bin.

No problems at all. The ashes just drop right past the handles.

I just took this picture so you can see how the ash lays like the handles aren't even there.

How about 1 handle in the middle?

Mine has 2 burner, so it would fall in the larger sections...hmmm.

I thought about one handle mounted in the center but then you would have to worry
about balancing the bin as you walked through door ways, by furniture and past any
pets that may be jumping at the bin to see whats inside. With the two handles, you
can feel confident that the bin isnt going to dump all over your newly installed carpet, lol.

What I'm really happy about is that it takes the strain off the back and frees up one hand to
be able to open and close doors as you take the bin outside to dump it.

This really works for me and I hope it can work for someone else out there.

One handle has to be bent wider than the other handle so that the smaller handle
lays inside the bigger handle. When done right, it lays nice and flat and fits perfectly.

I just realized my *new* Reading has the exact same ash pan. Before you patent that handle, I want to steal the idea and use it. Is that 1/4" rod? Or slighly smaller? How tall are they, about 7"?

Fred,

I'm working on the patent but I will make you a set as long as you can give me a little time.

Thanks,

Steve

My DVC-500 just has one handle, mounted in the middle, and does not tip from side to side. Works great! :D

Nice idea and excellent execution! :)

We discussed this with our ash pan manufacturer and these were already a design used by Alaska years back (his dad owned the company when it first started). We will make them available if there is enough interest, our design will have probably only one handle as the Harmans currently do. Seems to work pretty well.

We can always make a kit available to upgrade your existing ash pans, then you can transfer them from one to the other as the pans are replaced. As is always the case there are a number of ways to improve on what is currently being sold.

My hitzer stoker has one center handle also. It does make it easy to get out the door with a load of ash!
