Its not too bad, as long as the drillers don't ruin the enviroment up there.

That area around Montrose is beautiful. I understand its helping the local economy such as
motels, hardware stores, etc., but that it just what I hear.

Have a friend near Nicholson & his family leased out part of their hunting land.
He said if things go good, they stand to make a fortune.

If you mean environmentally friendly...it cannot be done. They will rape and pillage as they have done everywhere else and if the states allow it the problems will be many and far reaching. The money anyone will make will be a bitter pill when the problems arise.

There are wells all over my neck of the wood. At one point I could see three seperate wells being burned off at the same time from work. None of the gas from any of these wells benefits us locally. It's all piped somewhere else. As far as the fracking goes, I don't think their doing that here currently due to the greenies putting a stop to it awaiting more public input, and safety regs.

One company drilling locally was forced by the courts to renegotiate their leases with the landowners because of some info they did not disclose to the landowners at the time of the original contract.

They are gonna have more hearings for the ones in Pa. from what it sounds like after they fracture the shale they pump down water to force the gas up & its pulling all kinds of other pollutants along as well as ruining drinking wells & run-off into streams.
