Nidal Hasan also worked for Homeland Security

Now we have a little insight into why Obama said to not jump to conclusions about Nidal Hasan. Check the pdf on this link and go to page 29 (pdf page 32).

This link is broken, either the page no longer exists or there is some other issue like a typo.

Well, it's a stretch to say he worked for Homeland Security. Nidal Hasan is listed in the referenced document as a participant in the Task Force. Giving that he was in the military and a student at the Army's Uniformed Services University School of Medicine, you would expect the Army to send someone to the Task Force. Look at all the other listed participants, would you also say they "worked for Homeland Security"?
Obviously not.

The whole deal is pretty messed up, obviously the ball was dropped on this one a few times. I'm wondering whether he will be tried in a military or a civilian court since they can't seem to make up their minds on which is the correct venue.

There's no question he will be tried via court martial under the UCMJ. He was an active duty service member who killed other active duty service members on a US military base within territory of the United States. I supose the state of Texas could make a claim for jurisdiction, but they'd lose.

There will clearly be other investigations as well but Hasan himself will be dealt with by court martial.

I can remember reading about a Private Sobeak or something like that, being the last one excecuted by fireing squad. Don`t recall much of it other than it was sad & they really screwed it up, I believe that it was decided after that to do away with the fireing squads. .
