Phantom Jobs Saved in Phantom Districts

Here's a stimulus success story: In Arizona's 9th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that's what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.

There's one problem, though: There is no 9th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight congressional districts.

There's no 86th congressional district in Arizona either, but the government's recovery.gov Web site says $34 million in stimulus money has been spent there.

In fact, Recovery.gov lists hundreds of millions spent and hundreds of jobs created in congressional districts that don't exist.

Over zealous computer nerd? Obama administration desperate to show something good? When all this comes out in the wash the Stimulus plan is going to be shown as the massive government spending spree on pork, socialist and pet projects it actually was.

I noticed that myself, haven't really looked at recovery.gov. I wonder if that is the case with all of them.

I find it interesting that they include someone that got a raise as a job saved. That would be like adding the money you pay your bills with as savings. Liberal math?

My job went to Mexico, and is still in Mexico. I guess the Government can't afford to get it back to the US?

Can`t blame whats been going south or east for decades on B.O. kind of like shutting the barn door after the animals are gone. And I sure wouldn`t count on any of those jobs coming back the politico`s & big business have sold this country it seems like theres a lot of short term memory here.

I'm pretty sure this thread is about being lied to about saving jobs, not about the ones that have been gone for years.
