Like we need more FEES in NY states.

Perhaps nostalgic for the license plates of yore as well as being desperate for revenue, NY State rolled out a new license plate redesign that will be required for pretty much all vehicles, new and old, starting next year. The "Empire Gold" license plate, in gold with dark blue lettering, will replace the current white plate with the Niagara falls and city skyline elements and the cost will be another $25 for registration renewals and new registrations. Plus, if you want to your current letter and number license combination, that'll be another $20! Geesh.

A plan to start charging New York drivers $25 for new license plates will be scuttled, lawmakers said on Sunday.

Damn, those are ugly. Like the current ones much more.

Bet they'll switch them up again in 3 years after "complaints". If there is still a budget crisis, another round of mandatory plate changes. If no problems or a major state reelection in progress, only an optional change. Then the year after it will be mandatory on the grounds that the police have a hard time reading these compared to the old ones, or something like that.

That is what happened here in CT. I think they went around three changes in 7-8 years before they got tired of it. A new plate no one liked, then retro, then changed it and then the cops didn't like it and it had to be reflectorized. :lol:

Actually those are pretty similar to the ones we used in the early 80's. Wonder if my "old one " will pass :roll:

I have a better idea. if we need more money to run the state of New York, Everyday We go on without a budget, cut the pay of our elected officials till they can come up with a budget. we have to cut our budget to survive. the more I save the more they steal from me.
