American Conservative on the Palin Phenomona

The whole thing is here:

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/ ... ompetence/

A sample.

What McCain misses in his article is that liberal journalists actually take great delight in the Palin phenomenon. Yes, of course, they don’t want to see her in power, but I think they do want to see her prosper and thrive as the face of the Republican Party. An American right led by or identified with Palin is one that they can very easily ridicule and discredit, and at the same time they can be confident that a Palinized GOP poses no threat to anything they value. Palin is not going to bring the party out of the minority, and were she to lead the party it would more or less guarantee continued Democratic ascendancy for many years to come. Her content-free pseudo-populism ensures that the legitimate political concerns of her constituency remain irrelevant to real policy debates. Media outlets also thrive on controversy and conflict, both real and manufactured, and Palin continues to give them plenty of opportunities for both.

My personal opinion is she has no interest in power. She merely wants her book to sell really well and she's playing the game that will help book sales.

Why did she sign on to become VP, then? She must have drawn encouragement from former Republican VPs Spiro Agnew, a certified criminal, and Dan Quayle, a certified moron. McCain did not scare me as a candidate until he chose Palin to run with him. At that point I decided he must be already as senile as Reagan in his second term.

Because she had no idea what she was getting into. Oh yeah, and it's made her rich.

OK, but it is a little disconcerting when they all cheer wildly at her gibberish. Apparently disconcerting to thinking conservatives too.

Palin is more intelligent then the liberal obama sitting in the White house. Once again this all boils down to is that people fear a woman in power and especially one with conservative values.

The only people who fear Palin are the few non-evangelical conservatives left in the GOP. And they fear her because as long as she's around the GOP will be out of power.

The democrats love what she's doing to the GOP.

The media loves the never ending scandal, in particular her spat with a teenager.

As far as the dems are concerned, she's the gift that just keeps giving. Imagine how pleased the GOP would be if Al Sharpton became the leading spokesman for the democratic party...

Whether she runs or not, if she and Beck and Limbaugh keep doing to the GOP what they're doing they GUARANTEE Obama's re-election.

Just ask Ralph Nader and Ross Perot. A fractured party is doomed.

So, if you're not worried about her, how come you're bashing her? I'd vote for her just because of her traditional American values. Anyway, how's it going with the jobs you gave to India, Eric? Where's the jobs for America? Where's the energy independance? Where's the decision on Afghanistan? Oh, I guess American soldiers can wait while Obama disarms the country and works on forcing me to buy health insurance.

Hardly. If she runs in her own right, she'll be exposed for the empty (running) suit she is. (Don't forget: after she resigned, nobody even in the GOP gave her any shot at the nomination.) And if she doesn't run, what's she gonna do? Sell a few books (assuming her supporters can read), take the cash and settle back with the rest of the tea-baggers, which is such a painfully small minority that Fox has to fake the tape of their crowds. On that side of the ledger, don't forget that she shopped herself around after the election as a potential TV- or radio-host, and that market yawned too.

She's political cotton-candy. Zero substance; all she'll do is rot your party's teeth.

all i hear is hate hate hate coming from that statement. She is far from an empty suit, remember she has more experience then Barack. She will do more then sell a few books, try millions of books. People dont buy books from liberals, ask nancy pelosi. Sarah Palin is one of the most intelligent, influential, and powerful woman in the world and shes a conservative. no wonder you hate her. Drop the hate and you might see what youve been missing

Keep it up and you'll have Obama until 2016.

Bill Clinton won because Ross Perot split the GOP

George Bush won because Ralph Nader peeled off 2% of the vote.

Sarah Palin is unlikely to win the GOP primary in 2012. If she is so divisive as to ostracize her base then the GOP nominee will lose in the general election. The dems wet dream is that someone talks her into running as a 3rd party candidate.

I have no idea how smart she is.

I know she is not well educated. She barely graduated from an unimpressive school as a TV journalism major.

I also know she is in a very public spat with a 19 year old. On that point alone one must question her judgment.

Actually, you know how Sarah Palin gets the GOP nomination?

There's no democratic primary in 2012 (certainly not a contested one). That means in states that allow you to declare a party at the last minute you'll see tons of dems crossing over to vote for Palin.

You know what the dems fear in 2012? A weak economy and Mitt Romney running against them.
