Yesterday, I would have said the same thing. Maybe I did, in this thread. Today, I installed Microsoft's new free version "Microsoft Security Essentials" which also looks for Spyware. It is soooo freegin intuitive, its amazing. I'll be installing it on all my PCs soon.

I'm going to try AVG, I have a dislike for Microsoft programs in general, case in point is IE, I switched to Firefox a long time ago and never looked back. I had to use IE a few days ago for a work-related program that required IE, first time I used it in a long while.

That's the one ....... I screwed up on my last post ...... AGV is the one that is giving me the constant popups. I can't figure out how to get rid of it ....

Other than that it's been great. I use AGV & Avast together, plus Spybot & CC cleaner to keep it running smooth.

I have one computer that has been really goofy lately. I pulled all the AV and loaded that MSE and it works well now. Thanks, now lets see if it will let me open firefox.

I uninstalled Norton, used the link above to get to the AVG site, downloaded it, now I can't find any icons or mention of it in my programs list. Suggestions?

John, you just downloaded it. Now you have to execute the Install program by clicking on the object you downloaded. Do you remember which folder it downloaded to? If not, just do a search of your entire C: drive for AVG.

Found it, in "My Documents" in the "Downloads" folder. Loading the program now.
Usually there is an icon on the desktop when I download a program that is used to execute the installation.

Thanks!!!!

Ever since I started using Firefox the same thing happens to me every time I download something. If I miss that little pop up box in the lower right corner, I'm screwed - searching forever...

It's installed. I noticed as soon as I uninstalled Norton and restarted the PC that it was responding much faster then it has in a long time.
I'll see what happens tomorrow.

On the top bar in Firefox Tools->Downloads will take you the default download location.

You can change the preferences to prompt you for a location for each download or change the default location (to something you'll remember :D )

AV related, finished moving ~400 seats to AVG9 last week. Smooth upgrade - only a handful required manual intervention.
