Going to resurrect this old thread. Has anything changed about coal availability for you folks in S Kentucky? I can get to the Amish one north of Nashville in about 3.5 hours probably. Are there any north of Knoxville that anyone can tell me of? It is maddening to do a search for anthracite on the computer. :x There does not appear to be any dealers in Knoxville or Nashville. Thinking of getting the smallest stoker possible and tie it into my hot air system here in Chattanooga. Propane is almost $4/gallon! Natural gas runs right bye me but is not available to this house. :x Electric might be a better choice but I resist using it. Only about .08 per kilowatt here.

My guess is that if it's available, someone on that site will know.

The one i originally posted about, who I bought from for three years, Amish Traditions, went out of business. I now travel to Munfordsville KY and get two skids per year in one load from Dutch Built Specialties. I live 30 miles north of Nashville and that's the closest I can find. I think it is around $330.00 per ton. I am late this year but should be going there soon.

Klook, keep an eye on the craigslists around your area. Combustioneer's are common, and they work very well as an add-on furnace. Pea stoker coal is easy to find in that area and cheap.

I have asked around about coal of any kind and just get strange looks. I will continue to get strange looks it seems. :D

Kevin

Thanks cybdav, I will google map them up.

And Berlin, no real basement, I could make a room in one end by pouring concrete and building a wall, but the furnace is a propane unit built into the cooling unit outdoors. Tough situation.

I spoke with Andy at Dutch Built today. He is sold out and will get another trailer load in two weeks. I usually buy in September. This is why.

Thanks, I was all the way over to Nashville today, wish I had time to run up there and check them out. It is not like I am going to freeze down here if I don't get any right now! ;) It hit 76 here in Chatt today.
