Hello, do I really need to get the swg lube oil, or can I get away with 3 in 1 oil or 3 in 1 motor oil that says it can be used on 1/4 horse motors (20 SAE). I realize power venter is not a quarter horse but would it be okay?

Last time someone asked this question I think the answer was to use the special SWG oil because of the high temps.

I asked that question a while ago, ordered a new motor from LL and Karen told me Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0w20 would be ok,oiled the old motor and stuck it back in the powerventer and it's still running, draft is slightly higher(.35, previous was .22) so I guess it's getting a few xtra rpms at the lowest setting on the rheostat. Mobil 1 has a blend says 5000 miles between changes, that is Not the one to get,the fully synthetic Mobil 1 says 15000 miles between changes, maybe a dollar more per quart than the blend(6.85),as opposed to 16 bucks an ounce for swg oil.I'll let youall know if it dies. About 6 per lube hole, ran it all last winter without lubing it because it was new and I assumed it was prelubed by manufacturer. RichB
