Burned wood for about 35 years and keeping enough stored out of the weather in case of a storm was always a problem. I even tried one of those stupid outdoor boilers for a while and let me tell you those things will work you to death and you still have to go out in all kinds of weather to tend them, what a joke.

And the low chimney on them smokes out the neighbors, and they quickly learn to hate you. There is a reason why chimneys
exit the top of a house.

Might as well forget that place as it looks like they won't have anymore, don't know what their problem is. But there are other places to buy. Got my last load off of black beauty coal which is located just off of rt 246 just west of Lewis Id. , min run was $53.50 per ton and they have some other sizes also but I did not check the price on these. Real nice people to deal with too. there is also another place, Jarvis Coal Llc. 6268 N county road 550 E Shelburn Id. (812) 798-0779 , I do not know the price or the sizes they have. Tell me where you are located and I might know some place closer to you. Hope this helps.

I'm located in the far south suburbs of Chicago, near Joliet, IL. We live above the "saudi arabia" of coal and it more difficult to find that you'd imagine. There is a one man operation on the south side of the city, but his prices are very high for just pickup.

I found a couple of places you can try .They are listed as retail dealers but who knows. Two are in Chicago and you may have already tried them. Chicago Wood and Coal 950 Cremak Rd (312) 421-9663 , Greune Coal Co 7436 Union Ave (773) 846-4000. Now for a couple in Indiana,Coal City Cob 5100 Florece Ln, Lafayatte In (765) 296-7500 and Conley Coal Sales,Rochester In, 4440 N. 200 W. (574) 223-5260, These places are to far away for me as I live in east central Il. and I know what you mean about being hard to find. You will just have to give them a call and see. Let me know how you do.

I don't know of any near Springfield but there may be one. There is a place near Decatur called, Curry Ice & Coal of Illipolis, 4071 Cundiff Rd, Decatur Il, (217)876-9621 I have not been there but it's close enough for me to give it a try. There is another place, Black Beauty Coal, 4500 N 1500 E ,Ridge Farm Il. ,(217)247-2145 , I know this mine , I bought a ton and a half off of them last winter. The problem is all they have is mine run and it's full of shake, the only way to get any good sized stuff is to load it by hand one piece at a time. When I was there last year it was $53.50 a ton. May have changed since then.
