Er, not exactly. TR was the original "trust-buster." And Wm. H. Taft did even more. Both Republicans.
The Fed Reserve Act was a later piece of the reform movement a century ago.
Why Republicans? Because even they
realized that the wealth gap created by an unbridled free market not only was unconscionable but eventually would result in bloodshed. Besides, in a representative gov't, there's the small matter of getting enough votes to retain your office.
That's why the GOP perennially has you tools thinking they're your "small gov't" friend, when they're clearly not. They use your credit card to line the pockets of their buddies at Halliburton and Blackwater and big oil, they run up giant deficits in the process, oh, and meanwhile let their buds on Wall St gamble with your savings, and then they leave us all holding the bag as the economy goes in the sh!tter. Oh, wait. No, they demand more of your money
to bail out Wall St when the house of cards collapses.
Yet you guys still believe their line that gov't is out to get you. So you persist in voting for these crooks.
