So... we had about 2 inches of snow over the weekend but this evening we will either get smacked with an ice storm or miss the whole thing. Things like this tend to stay north of the Potomac River. The kids on the bus are employing their strongest techniques for a day off - sleeping in inside out pajamas put on backwards. We'll see how it works out in the morning. I'm betting for a 2 hour delay at most.

The Christmas season is winding up - next week we'll make our annual pilgrimage to the National Museum of Art's ice rink in the Sculpture Garden so the kids can ice skate. While there we'll stroll among the Memorials and Monuments. It's typically quiet this time of year. Then we'll go to the Washington, DC LDS Temple to see the "Festival of Lights." Surprisingly enough that is the number 1 tourist attraction in DC during Christmas. They have all kinds of live performances, too. It always sets the mood for the season. Take care and have a safe pre-Christmas season. Lisa

Nothing up here yet .... bone dry. It's a fast mover, & it's almost here ... within minutes I'm guessing. According to the weather reports there's a good chance that we may have a repeat of Dec.12, 2008 ..... just 4 days shy of the anniversary!

I say BRING IT! Got a gen that I need to break in & a cellar full of coal! 8-) :D

They already cancelled school in several areas here & not one flake has hit the pavement yet ..... well ..... not counting politicians :D !

I guess we're supposed to get hit hard & fast for the commute, then it's going to turn to ice/ rain, due to the storm coming from the south & bringing warm air with it.

Wouldn't that be somthing! 2 ice storms almost 1 year to the day! Everyone will be in meltdown mode trying to buy back all their generators they sold on Craigslist after the storm! During the storm, if you were lucky enough to find one, they were marking them up 1000%. I already had one ..... 8-)

Thanks! :D

I'm sure that I won't be replacing any ballasts or motion lights this time around! I need something to ease the pain of these credit card bills ..... a week without power is the ticket! :verycool:

how is a power outage going to help? I know when the power goes out here, it costs 20-25 bucks a day to run the generator to keep the efm, the alaska, the furnace fan in the house, 2 fridges, 2 freezers, the well pump, and some lights going.

Justification for my ridiculous credit card bills. (just bought the gen a month or 2 ago) :D 8-)

Already 6" on the ground & counting! Started snowing heavy at about 4:15 this morning. If we get any freezing rain with this wind, we're guaranteed a repeat of last year.

A snowmobile just went by my house at like 100 mph!
