if it had electrical connections it could be a neutral lite indicator switch but it appears to have vaccuum hose connectors so I think it is a ported vaccuum switch. for bonus points it goes on some crappy designed 4wheel drive enguagement device prolly a junky jeep front axle or a old Eagle transfer case . from the looks of the yellow spring clamp on the hose it is a chrylser product??

Poconoeagle 100% correct on all! 8-)

GMC Jimmy 4x4 vacuum switch, mounts on the tranny. That ball contols vacuum to the diaphragm, which engages the front diff. 8-)

Ya gotta love it when the oil leaks and swells the hoses so they fall off. gee when mercedes used vaccuum to comtrol all the power locks and exotic temp control heating system, at least they used colored hard plastic thick wall tubing. The transition conectors did eventually get soft specially after a modulator valve failure and tranny fluid circulated thru the vac system!!!

ok let's see.......

 Sounds like a nice situation!

This one came from Georgia, so every single mile of vacuum hose was disintegrating ... so once I replaced the 50 miles of lines, the 4x4 still didn;t work. That's when I discovered this little gem ... made in MEXICO no less .... available at your GM parts counter for $25. .... oh .... and nearly impossible to get to!!
