E.F.M. made several of these units, they made a 16A model which the pots were the same as a 700. They also made a model 20A which these you could interchange parts for the 900. Model 65R and model 85R were in a class of their own. All of these units had a coal feed auger and a ash removal auger along with the upright tube to put the ash in a container, some of these had augers, others had small buckets and some had a spring with paddles on them.I have several of these units and i will try ang get them out of the archive garage and post some photos.SCRAPPER

There were only two made by an Amishman and they were for apartment buildings. They used a grain auger, flexible type. They bent the tubing to make a bend and inserted the flexible auger.

The auger and pipe went up to the ceiling from the base of the stoker, which had its ash bin removed and dumped into another bin about 30 feet away. From there, another auger took the ashes up to the surface. The system ran on a timer and was adjusted to meet the ash deposits for the time of year. Twice a day in the Summer. The motor was 220V and was either 1 or 2 HP.

Problems occurred at the second bin that went to the surface. Moisture got into the ashes sitting in the cellar and would bind up, on occasion. This wouldn't be a problem with a home that sent the ashes directly to the surface.

The timer has to be set properly so the ashes don't fill the base. Otherwise, no other problems occurred.

A rough guess of such a system for a house might be $2,000 Not a bad price if you are elderly and want to keep your stoker.

Contact name of the builder: Elimsport Welding Shop, John, 570 547 2476 located in PA.

Hey, even today's kids have to be about 40 years old before they realize their parents might have been pretty bright folks too.
Funny the twists and turns life sends us on before we 'get right' with the man......

Years ago, people that experimented and took chances were not faced with a camera and mic shoved in their faces when the snale darter crawled out from under a log.........
Do something, even if it's wrong..how else do we learn? Certainly not watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.....or square pants Bob..jeeeeeesssss.
