I got a six pack of Redbridge from A-B. It is the worst beer I have ever had in my life. If I weren't so cheap, I'd pour it down the drain!

The best destination for bad beer is to use it in cooking. It makes a great sauce for slow cooked meats or to boil hot dogs or sausage in.

In my college days the best way to get rid of bad beer was to throw a party or just buy a six of good beer and drink the bad stuff after a few good ones.

My beloved Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA has been unavailable for several weeks causing me much emotional distress. I have been going from package store to package store seeking my favorite brew only to be repeatedly disappointed. Out of desperation I tried Smuttynose IPA and it is gooooooood! So good I'm working on my second bottle for the night. I am adding it to my list of really good beers. I has a nice hoppy bite. Obviously not a Bud  product. It is worthy of whishing in the mouth before the swallow.

Fegley's Rude Elf ... by Bethlehem Brew Works? I think I just saw a pile of it at Wegman's this week.

I hit Weyerbacher's on Friday night. Got some of this year's Riserva. Especially sour this year, took a long time to get some carbonation to it they said. I'm down to my last twoHeresy bottles and can't wait for the next release. When I tasted it at the brewery this past winter, it had very strong bourbon overtones. Bottled and age a few months, it turned out to be one of my favs just behind Insanity. I've been lucky to get everyone of their Brewer's Select since Golf came out. Friday they released November, a cold coffee infused breakfast ale. I haven't tried the bottled stuff as we just kicked a growler of Victory One Village that we very much enjoyed.

Is there a Wegman's around? Just hit up two stores this week, one had the DFH 90 IPA but the other didn't. Tried Stone IPA or their Levitation yet? Do :)

I have never heard of Wegman's. What I heard is the DFH 90 min hasn't been brewed in a few weeks due to something being changed or maintained at the brewery and that it has been backordered. I will keep my eye out for Stone and/or Levitation seeing they are worthy of mention. That is why I got Smuttynose. Someone was teasing Smitty that it would be at a MA get together he was missing just to get him tweaked! I wanted to see what he was missing. :shh: toothy

Wegman's is a Rochester based store that has recently branched out into other states. Unfortunately, there are none here in eastern NY but I used to shop there regularly when I lived in the Syracuse and Buffalo areas. The store in Fayetteville, NY has the best beer selection I have ever seen in a grocery store. It is better than many beer distributors here in NY and in PA. Unfortunately, the liquor control laws in most of NE prevent sale of alcoholic beverages in grocery stores just like in PA. In NJ, like in Florida, some stores used to have annexes where they sold alcoholic beverages separately from the grocery store.

Try "Hop Stupid", any Imperial or double IPA from a decent label or "Hop Wallop" from Victory. These aren't in the same league as DFH 90 but they are reasonable substitutes. Try the DFH 120 if you ever get a chance. Pure ambrosia for the hop-happy beer lover. "World Wide Stout" is also a great big beer from DFH.

Wegmans and Whole Foods have gotten special dispensation from the PA regulators over the last year. Many are now allowed to sell beer and wine at their café. You have to check out your fermented purchases at that and only that check out counter. They're even required to card you at Wegmans but I don't remember if WF does the same. Very nice selections too. WF will fill growlers as they offer a few brews on tap. I checked and didn't see any Wegmans in CT but there are WF stores there.

So many beers,.....so little time. There are a lot of good suggestions but I'm just not running across them,... yet. STILL no Dogfish 90 Minute IPA. I tried the Long Trail IPA a few days ago. It's ok. Tonight I got Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale. Not as hoppy as there IPA but it is a nice brew. I'd never stick my nose up at this one. Mikey likes it.

STILL NO DOGFISH 90 MINUTE!!!!! :bang: but there is Sierra Nevada Torpedo. :shots: ....better than Long Trail IPA, I'd say on par with Smuttynose IPA. You know maybe Dogfish did me a favor. I didn't know what I was missing. You know, I'm starting to get over this no Dogfish thing. I'm starting to like this playing the field. Got some Cottrell's Mystic Bridge IPA for tomorrow. I had tried Cottrell's products years ago and didn't like it. I guess I'll cut them some slack and give them another shot. The Mystic River Bridge is on their label which I drive over several times a day, not that makes it taste any better. Word at the packy is they have tightened up on their quality control. We shall see.

I like the Torpedo IPA as well. Tonight I am drinking "Lord Chesterfield Ale" that I got on my last trip to PA...tasty stuff.

Tis the season for really good hearty beers. Here are a few of my fav's that your local fine beer establishments should be offering NOW.

St-Feullien Cuvee de Noel - 9%ABV spicked Belgian beer
Yakima Glory - 8.7%ABV dark IPA, fantastic, and local to PA
21st amendment hop crisis - 11.8% ABV
Duchesse De Bourgogne - 6.2% ABV Flanders Red Ale. It's a sour beer
Corsendonk Christmas Ale - 8.5% ABV Belgian Dark Stron Ale
