Mass Special Senate Election

Mass Special Senate Election

PostBy: mr1precision On: Tue Dec 15, 2009 6:47 pm

Is anyone following the special Senate election? Personally, I'm for Scott Brown. I would like to see at least some debate in this state. Right now it's almost all Dems and probably will continue to be. For the first time in my life I volunteered to help someone campaign. That's how strongly I feel about it.

I am watching it. Save your energy for the gov. race. That is one that can be won. Martha has union support, and they
turn out the vote. Brown has 0 name recognition, and not much hope. Charlie Baker on the other hand has charisma, name
recognition, the whole package. He is a conservative that does not come off like a dick. Very much like Bill Weld. As long as
he does not go abusively (stupidly) negative, he WILL be the next governor.
As a practical matter, not sure how wise it would be to send a republican to the senate, even if he could win. The Dems
have all the juice in the capital now. Given that, it is probably better for the Common Wealth overall to have a Dem senator
at this time.
Charlie got a check from me, hopefully he has smart people around him and does not poison(lose) the race. You have
to look how D Patrick got in. He knew nothing, but he was POLITE. The republicans hid Kerry, and went with a Rove esc
campaign and.......Lost hard. The slash and burn negative thing is played out, especially here. Hopefully the party has
learned it's lesson. I put $500 on him believing that he has. 8-)

I hope your wrong about the senate race but I'm afraid your right.
Yes, Kerry Healey came off as a bitch in the last race. Personally I liked Mihos because he's a good business man.

I was gonna post something until I saw this thread already started.

We HAVE to get Brown in there .... nothing is ever going to change in this state unless the silent majority wakes up, & gets out there & votes more Republicans in! If we get Brown in, not much will change ... but it's a START! And God knows we gotta start sometime, somewhere!!

I'm just utterly amazed at the voters in this state ....... same old, same old decade after decade! You think they'd learn! Typical old Yankee stubborness ....... at least that is what it appears to be on the outside. My money is on Teddy's ol' man's former business associates grandkids still running the show behind the scenes ...... But then again, I hear people rave about these Dems that have a chokehold on the state. Like I just told my mother today: If your happy with all these taxes, just keep voting Dem!

She was a schoolteacher, & was hammered by the liberal teachers union to vote Dem her whole career. Old habits are hard to break! They blame all the MCAS testing problems on Bush, but it was MA that put it's own little twist on it to make the Republicans look like the bad guys. She was instructed directly from the principal to cheat on the tests (help the kids out) to ensure their job security! That's the Dem way! Corruption runs soo deep it's even made it to the classroom!

There's no way people can be this stupid & elect career politicians over & over & over again.

Kudos to you Mr1 for making the effort!! I've been hammering my buddies with emails about this for the last few weeks! 8-)

One thing I found incouraging. My father inlaw who's a hardcore dem voted for Coakley in the primary because she was the best choice out of the dems. However he will be voting for Brown in the election. He tells me he is ashamed to call himself e dem and he hasnt voted for one in the last few years. :)

Good deal! 8-)

I hear that alot too ...... that's probably why the poll numbers are so low during elections -- alot of people have just given up.

Maybe, his adds are running tons now. Wanted to slap the guy after I read a headline quoting him as saying" water boarding
is not torture, the would be bomber should be at Gitmo, not us soil. Ouch! Not the gitmo part, as no one would disagree with
that, but the water boarding comment......not smart. I would be real surprised if the opponents do not hammer away at that.
Personally, I will vote for him, but.....he drives a GM, and compares his old truck to the people of MA. Whoa-who writes
this stuff? Who ever it is , needs to be fired yesterday. The truck is not that old, is a product of a failing company, and the
analogy is awkward, does not work, and some will find insulting. Nice add
Hopefully, IF he is elected, he will bring better talent with him to Washington.

I'm hoping we at least stop the runaway train. Currently there is no balance. I dont want either party to dominate.

How true, more problems get solved when the parties are forced by the numbers, to deal with each other to get stuff done.
The jamming of stuff, regardless of which party has the ram at the time, is never good for us. Extreme agendas-special interest usually score when one party holds a super majority. We, the citizens are not served well under those conditions.
Even it up some, then the deals get made because.......they have too. Can not go it alone if you do not have the votes. And
as a bonus, civility returns because you need that guy, as much as you may or may not like his beliefs. You can not tell the
guy across the isle to F off today if you need him tomorrow. ;)

It was a Chevy, and it was not that old. His point was he is everywhere touchin' the people. Martha strikes me as a
Volvo type....who knows?
