Fines on floor underneath Harman Magnum Stoker

Fines on floor underneath Harman Magnum Stoker

PostBy: flame On: Mon Jan 29, 2007 2:01 pm

New Harman Magnum Stoker - just installed January 2007. With the stoker in operation, I find a small "dusting" fines on the floor each day. The "pile" is just under the stoker unit on the left side (same side as the feed dots). The small tray is in place and I have checked it for fines on a regular basis - never really much in the tray. Using bagged coal right now. Everything else seems okay - just does not seem right. Any one else with this issue or is this just normal.

BTW - After 20+ years of hand fired / gravity feed coal - the stoker is a great improvement.

I have the very same problem. I took a small piece of aluminum and cut it to fit under my stoker assembly.. A tray if you will. I'll take some pics of it installed and out so you get the basic idea.. This way I just pull that tray once a week and dump that too. The little tray installed on the magnum works well but needs to be empties often. I usually empty fine whenever I fill my hopper and throw the fines on the fire.

Stove/Furnace Make: Harman Magnum Stoker

My 2004 model does the same thing. Is in the garage so is not causing any concern.

After looking at it a couple weeks ago I determined that the slot for the stroke measurement indicator (dots) is the culprit, and the longer the stroke the more fines. I noticed a larger pile when I increased the stroke to max a month or so ago.

Sounds like the catch pan idea is the only solution, aside from giving Harman hell.

Make sure the tray is all the way in....the tab on the tray will not protrude out the side if it is all the way in....no part of the tray should stick out of the side...I have to jiggle mine to get it all the way in...

This may not be your problem...but mine did it till I found out it needs to go in till the tray tab is inside the housing...
