I don't know about that ....

When I lived in CA I wiped out on my motorcycle & removed most of my left knee .... off to the hospital I go for $1,000 (I'd have been better off walking!), had to pay the cops $100 for showing up (got the bill for that afterward) ..... and with no health insurance, I got a bill for $6,000. Might as well been 6 million, because I didn't have a pot to piss in at the time ... especially with the cost of living there!

So I defaulted, my credit was destroyed .......and 2 years later I ended up paying 80% of it back, just to satisfy the bank that the wife & I were trying to get a mortgage from in MA.

The gov't never gave me a nickel!

So they should have just turned you away?

You were broke. You had no insurance.

In your world what should have happened? Because in the libertarian world you should have been left on the side of the road with no knee.

Honestly, if I knew then what I know now, I would have just duct taped the flesh together, bought some Hydrogen Peroxide & hoped for the best! Nobody sees my knees .... they don't have to be pretty.

I'd be paying 1% less in interest on my mortgage ..... and we would have been able to afford furniture when we first moved in.

Smitty! Thats just because you don`t know how to work the system. Your problem is you have some pride & self esteem, if you were satisfied to live on welfare & in public housing for the rest of your life you would have been taken care of. If you work for a living & try to get ahead & better yourself of course they will take what you have, thats become the American way.

This is very true Sam .... especially in MA! :o

Even with the hospital treatment, it still got infected a few times. The only thing the hospital did for $6,000 is confirm that my kneecap wasn't shattered, give me morphine that did nothing for the pain, & remove some pavement from the knee. During the course of that, they made the scar even worse.

A fifth of Jim Beam's finest & some peroxide would have had the same results with 1/100th the bill.

Thats what I`m talking about the $6,000 is probably about average now. The scum of the earth call for an ambulance which won`t even go into some areas without the cops. They get to the E.R. & they have been tutured as to what to say to the doctors to try & get some drugs, then they demand transportation back. Mean while people that really are sick have to wait.

Best debate I've seen on television, Judge nails it in the first 5 minutes.

The remainder of the show is at the U-toob link parts 2,3 and 4.

The number one problem with healthcare costs is obesity. The average obese person has a very high rate of heart disease, lung problems, diabetes and on and on and on compared to the normal weighted individual. That seems to me to be why healthcare costs are spiraling, it is just following the trend of a fattened up nation. Start charging insurance by body mass index and the troubles should straighten out in a hurry. Who knows, it may even drive down healthcare costs.

coaledsweat, I'm surprised at your comment. Now your playing right into there way of doing business. Just like the green game it's a lot of tadoo about nothing once you really look at the numbers, it's just blame. If you can make some feel bad and some feel good then you can start planning strategies. Well it sucks. Next you will have it that everyone gets a DNA test at birth to see what illnesses they will have in there lives and charge accordingly. Come on give me a break, health care is up because people are so afraid of dying, just look at the size of your neighborhood churches there incredible. If you want something to go down in price just stop using it and they start giving it away. Know why gas is still high priced......how far did you drive today?

I`m reasonably sure that the AARP started out with the right objective but like most every organizations as they get larger & more powerful it breeds corruption & greed. I`m even getting kind of an understanding of why O.B. was in such a hurry for the H.C. bill, the longer you allow the house & senate to be influenced by lobbyist the more twists, turns & special interests deals are put in. Both sides add admendments then blame one another for doing the same thing, then comes the holding out of your vote until you can make a special deal pretty soon they no longer even know what they are voteing on. The longer its delayed the worse it gets, they should just have a yes or no vote & get on with it & move on to the next order of business.

Give it a shot. I'm sure Obama's core constituency will love that idea.

One question, are you going to leave all the growth hormone laden foods on the shelf? All the GMO crap and HFCS stuff?

6 miles. They are not fixing healthcare, they are servicing old debt. I wasn't suggesting the weight thing as a solution, just making fun of what these clowns are going to do with the money. Our money.

Well there is the problem coaledsweat, you still think it's your money. It hasn't been your/our money for generations. We went to war against England a long time ago for tax money and won er lost depending how you look at it. All we did was stop paying one tyrant to pay another tyrant, wow now that was a winner.
Until it gets to where we are all equal, that we all deserve to be healthy at the same price of the so called men at the top, it will be a disaster for all.
We pay tax on the money we make for working. We pay tax on everything we buy. We pay tax on everything we sell. Yep so glad we won that war long ago with England, sure did make things better.
Watch the stock markets of the world, there so funny anymore. Used to be if a country say Like Greece was going to default on there debt payments oh my that was bad. Now days it's bad for an hour or so and then it's all forgotten. Car company like Saab or Saturn go under, normally that was bad, now not a blink. Nope this is not real. It is bad when a car company goes down or a country might default, yep very bad.
Feels like the Matrix anymore to me.
