superior coal ?

Just started burning the coal furnace a few days ago and it's not putting out the heat it usually does with Superior.I got my coal in April or May this spring.My question is did Superior have any breakdowns then and maybe get coal from down the road(Sherman coal)?My coal guy gets me Superior coal but this stuff I'm burning isn't Superior.It takes a long time to light,makes so-so heat and has white fluffy ash(just like Sherman).I hate to think my coal guy came all the way from mid NY and got me Sherman when Superior is just a little ways down the road.I know he knows the difference and that I also know the difference.Anybody else burning Superior and getting mostly white ash?

What did the weigh slip say?

I got some March 9 and it was red ash. I know Superior was down for a couple of days now and then for repair but I have no idea when, usually in summer when not as busy unless it would be an emergency. Could he have made the trip only to find Superior closed and then got it elsewhere? I have never received anything but red ash from Superior.

I don't think so gaw.He calls first and it's a 8 or 9 hr round trip with loading and he usually does this on a Sat morning.That's why we go early in the spring because superior is closed on Saturday's in the off season .

I hate to think the guy screwed me because he's not just my coal guy he's my friend.He bags it for me and doesn't have to weigh it for me i just pay him for how many tons he gets.Good thing I only got 3 ton this year(I usually get 6 or 7 ton)oil was so cheap with the spring pre-pay (1.55 P/G) I bought enough oil for the winter.The 3 ton of coal was to make sure he stays in business,if I loose him I loose my Superior connection and bagging guy!

Opened up another bag of coal today and it looked and sounded different.Sounded like broken glass and looked very shinny.Dumped it on the fire tonight and it took right off with those purpleish blue flames that Superior makes.I guess he just mixed up a few bags.All is well in coaland.

Superior Red ash always Sherman has whiteash he might of mixed up the bags . The coal is light night and day between the two of them. Summit Anthracite is closer to Superior coal 4.5 miles apart Summit sell both Red & White ash coal
maybe he went there .

is summit coal any good

I know this is an old thread but I'm gunna be getting coal soon and would like to know if the quality of Superior coal is getting better.I just read on the UAE thread that some of the mines that superior used to get coal from are opening up again.Does this mean that Superior will be superior coal again?
