Im a lieutenant in our towns fire department. some very close friends of mine run a 4,000 acre cash crop farm. work hard, play even harder, great people, take the shirts off their backs for ya. they had not one, but 2 combine fires yesterday. I made both calls. first one they think was an electrical fire, just a long smoldering fire. put it out and they can probably salvage the cummins motor. the second fire, this one, was more than likely a fuel leak on the manifold. I got on location and found this. they were on top of the combine with fire extinguishers, but got off quick when she really got cooking. so they got off, said well might as well get some pictures (knuckle heads). our engine got on location and the driver jeff put the petal down to the wood. got that far lol. think we need some ground hog mudders on the engine. their steiger made easy work out of getting it out. 500 feet of hose and got her out. so I helped comfort them around their wood stove in their shop, the keg-o-rator, and a bottle of whiskey last night. what are the odds of two fires in one day, same farmer

That looks like an older machine. I hope it's paid off or is insured. They look very expensive to replace.

lol, thats what they said, popcorn. they also wanted to make sure that the mice were not harmed in the cab. yes, fully insured and well paid for. the unit on fire here is probably worth 30 grand they said, (obviously before the fire) and was insured for 75. other was worth 25 and insured for 50k

It sounds like they should run the House banking and finance committee.gitrdonecoal wrote:lol, thats what they said, popcorn. they also wanted to make sure that the mice were not harmed in the cab. yes, fully insured and well paid for. the unit on fire here is probably worth 30 grand they said, (obviously before the fire) and was insured for 75. other was worth 25 and insured for 50k

Is'nt farming fun . Been there, before they put rotary screens on the Deeres, they would suck too much dust into in the engine compartment and catch on fire. Had to rewire a 6600 twice from it.
