Man o -man, talk about heat! Going on 5 hrs since start up, 84 deg in bsmt (was 60), turned max back from 30 to 25, 69 F upstairs and rising with basement door open, .05 draft with baro, closing the baro temporarily gives .09, good draft, so who's complainin?

You shoudlnt' have to turn the max back unless it has settled down and you running FR99 and you are pushing hot coals off the grate. The stock setup is usually around max=40.

The only way to check is put the stove setpoint 5-10 degrees about the room and let it run for a while until you get FR99 and then check your hot coals, if you have about 1" of ash, that is good, if you have more, you need to bump the MAX up a few points at a time. If you have less then an 1" of ash and almost pushing hot coals, back it down a few points....
