Check this thread:

Need coal in Southern KY

I'm not sure where any of these places are but even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and while; maybe you'll get lucky, Lisa

Amish Traditions and fireplace shoppe
4981 Nashville Road, Franklin, KY
(270) 598-7299‎

I live in Springfield TN and currently buy coal here. I am new to burning coal but it is the closest I have found and it is good coal. $350.00 a ton. I don't know if that is good or bad price but it is saving me a lot of money over natural gas .

We live in Nashville, TN and the old coal bin was full when we bought the house.
There has not been a coal stove in the house for years and years.
If anyone is interested in this coal for home use please contact us at 615-566-0671 or 615-594-7480.

Order it from Lehman's. They will ship it right to your door. Since you live in Tennessee, you should look into getting the local coal there.
Click on link below.

Not sure if there is any "local" coal for the consumer. There is probably some for the power plant people. I am interested in this link as I will be most assuredly moving to coal in the future. Most likely when I move further north out of the Chattanooga suburbs. No one I have met even knows the difference between anthracite and bituminous.

It's been 20 years since I left Tennessee. I guess a lot has changed since then. In the early 90's there were still 9 separate coal dealers in Knoxville. There were 2 or 3 in Chattanooga.
It was 45 dollars a ton then and I bought lots of it. There were still many, many homes with stoker furnaces as well. I guess they are all gone now.

Bang, Zoom. All the listings for retail coal dealers in East Tennessee. Most of them are in Knoxville. 90 short miles away from you.

They all probably sell good quality Bituminous. The coal I burned in Knoxville was excellent. 14,000 BTU's, 1% Sulfur and 2 % ash. When in Rome ..... Obtain an appliance that burns it.
