Third Party - the ENERGY Party

Third Party - the ENERGY Party

It would be interesting to see a political party arise that is based on tenants such as the rejection of global warming and the absurd self destruction that the warmers want to inflict on the economy to "correct" it.
This new party would spend billions/trillions researching technology to burn coal cleaner and develop technology for consumers to produce their own energy just way people used to grow their own food.

People on welfare could be given jobs mining coal (OK, that's a joke).

At the recent Copenhagen summit Hugo Chavez mentioned a "silent and terrible ghost in the room" which is Capitolism. He got a 5 minute ovation. He bashed the US and got more ovations. Obama was part of that summit and made no defense of our way of life when he arrived.

Obama is ashamed of the U.S.A and in every speech he makes you hear him apologizing for our country. He denies our Christian heritage and praises Islam for all its contributions to the world (I just don't see them) . And now - Obama has embraced a new religion - Global Warming. I could ignore the guy and his wacky religion , but he has already spent more money that all our presidents combined for the last 30 years and now wants to make me pay for his religion with huge income and energy taxes.

We need a new party. An energy party.

It's just unbelievable the direction the country is heading with this clown at the helm .... not just him, but all who voted for him that believe in global warming to the point that they are willing to sacrifice all we have fought for, for over 230 years.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next 3 years to our wallets ...

The man behind the curtain?

http://www.afn.org/~govern/strong.html { It also recommended that "user fees" might be imposed on companies operating in the "global commons." Such fees might be collected on international airline tickets, ocean shipping, deep-sea fishing, activities in Antarctica, geostationary satellite orbits, and electromagnetic spectrum. But the big enchilada is carbon taxes, which would be levied on all fuels made from coal, oil, and natural gas. "A carbon tax," the report deadpans, ". . . would yield very large revenues indeed." Given the UN's record of empire-building and corruption, Cato's Ted Carpenter warns: "One can only imagine the degree of mischief it could get into if it had independent sources of revenue." ...............................

In July the State Department compromised -- accepting five new Security Council members but remaining silent on the veto. It plainly hopes that the veto issue will go away if the U.S. concedes on enlarging the Council. Yet the CGG's report makes clear that we are facing a rolling agenda to expand the power of UN bureaucrats. The veto issue may be postponed for ten years -- but what then?

"This is an initiative that should be resisted by the United States with special vehemence," says Ted Carpenter. For if the veto were eliminated, the United States would face the prospect of having other countries make key determinations that affect us without our consent.

Getting a third party going is the problem. What happens in reality is you end up giving the election to the guy you don't want because you split the vote of the other side. That's how we got Clinton. Good 'ol Ross Perot. You'd have to have a candidate so popular that he would pull votes from both sides and the center.

A 3rd party with the name of the “Energy Party” needs a platform, this platform should consist of an Energy Policy, here is some background on our current state of energy:

For the past forty years or more this country has been perusing a suicidal energy policy.
Our energy demands have been increasing while our energy producing capabilities have been dropping.
A good example of this is the state of California. At one time California was a next exporter of energy, today in is an importer and at the same time during warmer weather it resorts to rolling brownouts.

After WWII and the military demand for fuel declined, there was a huge switch from home heating with wood and coal to fuel oil and gas. Later when electric rates were falling the switch was to electric heat. Both of these heating fuels are a lot more convenient and cleaner.

Then in the 1970's when the US started to import more oil than we were pumping we got into the first fuel crisis. In order to maintain a reasonable standard of living people started going back to wood and coal. This switchback results in additional work on our part and a decline in the standard of living. At the same time nuclear fission was getting a bad name from the Hollywood motion picture industry, dumb designs of nuclear plants (Chernobyl), foolish stress testing of systems (Three Mile Island), ignorant news media and politicians looking for votes.
The man who started the People’s Lobby, the first of California’s mass anti-nuclear groups, used to say proudly, “The only physics I ever took was Ex-Lax.”

What has our current policy done for us.
Added to the welfare rolls with fuel assistance programs.

What is the coming cap and tax bill going to do for us.
It has provisions for more of the same assistance with only this time electrical assistance programs. One of the more recently popular “clean” heating/cooling systems was geothermal. These systems are totally dependent on electricity for power. All of this without having any effect on the global climate.
Lately due to system costs and the pending increases in electrical rates this technology switch by consumers is in a free fall. Another is plug in hybrid autos.

This is insane. It's like trying to accelerate an automobile with the brakes on all the time. The only reliable means of increasing employment and our standard of living is lower energy costs and freedom. That is known to work.
We should be making the energy less expensive and thus eliminating all of these income redistribution programs of the current administration.

Here is an Energy Policy for the “Energy Party”
Phase out all power plants that burn fuels that a typical home would use for energy.
This would be gas, oil and coal. Forget about wind power and solar in most areas of the country these systems do not scale. Their construction/operating costs are equivalent to have $170 a barrel oil never mind the real estate they take up. Replace these plants and build additional plants to take up the switch to plug in electric hybrids with nuclear and space solar.

So what's wrong with this picture?
Well, the problem is that thirty years hasn't changed the laws of physics. Things like the intensity of sunlight or wind power keep intruding. Nuclear power has two million times the energy density of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are again ten times as dense as wind and solar. Multiply it out and that comes to a factor of twenty million.
