Who Has Found A Better Price?

Has anyone found a better price for "haul your own" rice coal than $140/ton? I am near Reading Pa and must make a trip for more rice soon.I was just thinking with the back roads still a bit icy,maybe I could find a shorter trip for my truck and trailer.Icy back roads and a full trailer don't get along in my book.I have been running to Calvin V Lenigs and have been very pleased but looking to shorten the 170 mile round trip in the snow without adding to the cost. You are right ,I want to have my cake and eat it too! Mike

Where do you get rice for $140 ? I burn pea, $165 at south tamaqua coal pockets, $155 at Direnzo and $175 at blaschak for pick-up. I am also near reading.

I have been making the drive to Calvin V Lenigs.They break it right there and I think they charge $140. for the various sizes.That is what I paid for rice in October.They are located on the far side of Shamokin.It is hard to find the first time on gps because they are in the process of gatting actual street numbers.When I first went there they had a P.O.Box # for an address. For small loads he uses a hopper that is up on stilts.The hopper has a scale on it, he loads it in ,you pull under and he opens up the bottom gate.Small smooth operation. Mike

Have you guys tried FM Browns in Reading on Lancaster? That is where I used to buy my pea coal. They had decent prices for Reading and Blaschak. Think there is at least one breaker in Schuylkill county.

Have you looked at Shermans Coal. They are right off the Hegins exit of 81. When you get to Pine Grove that's just three exits. I've been burning their coal for the past 7 years and my Alaskan Stoker loves it. Not sure of the price, this summer it was 160 a ton bulk.
