Does Anyone Out There Have Any Information About HS Tarm 502
I just bought a house that came with a HS Tarm 502. I am currently firing it on oil and would like to burn some wood in it. I don't know anything about how the wood furnace part is supposed to look like, I think that the previous owner may have blocked up the back of the wood burning area. I might also be missing a grate. Any information would be helpful, especially a picture of how the inside should look. thanks

Make sure the target for the oil gun is in good shape, they have a piece of refractory to protect it. If is damaged or broken, the flame can eat the baffle. With rocking grates, that puppy can burn anthracite.aarmingt wrote:I am currently firing it on oil and would like to burn some wood in it.
A few members here have 502 TARMs.

aarmingt,
I see your post is about 15 months old, so I'm not sure you are looking anymore. I have a mid '80's Tarm 502, burned wood in it off & on over the past 20 years, and recently installed the "official" Tarm coal baffles. I have lots of photos and would be happy to post them or e-mail them to you. I'm a big fan of Tarms - they are well built and flexible as to fuel, but the owners manual doesn't begin to answer a lot of the questions we users have.
Let me know if you are still interested.
