Fire Boss wood/coal stove

I have a "Fire Boss" wood/coal stove insert that I am currently using to heat my home during the winter months, this thing works great my home is 2,400 sq ft Bi-Level and it keeps it at 72-75 all day and night.

It has 3 shaker grates inside (I guess for coal) my question is if anybody has one of these stoves, and if so how would the coal burn in them.
I am looking to start burning coal at night instad of wood so I don't have to keep checking on the wood at night

I am going Saturday to purchase some coal to try it out for the following week[/b]

where are you located?
it sounds like you are close to where you can buy
coal..



the stove should work great, there are many experts on this
forum that will be able to help you specifically with your stove,
but I would bet that it would work great!

read up on the differences in burning wood vs. coal, and
don't get discouraged too quickly, as it is nothing like
burning wood.

thanks for the reply, hoping to here from more people on coal burning this will be the first time for me burning coal
so far this year we burned 7 cords of oak wood hoping to burn coal to off set wood

Let me say this. Before the cold weather hits start working with it now. I found my furnace won't burn anthracite coal to good. Found out too late when it was too cold out and once you load it up with coal, I wouldn't recommend throwing wood on top. I would start now and play with it.

Hi there paving2007,I have a harman "dual fuel' stove ,i burn both,it takes a while to get the hang of when and how to switch,but it gets alot easier as time goes by.i can switch without hardly any todo,no shovelin or waiting for fire to go out,just change fuels and a kanob or 2,wood comes on alot quicker in my stove,so iffin I want quick heat ,its wood on a dieing fire,but at nite it is coal for the long pull,give it a go and come on back.GOOD LUCK!!GW
