My neighbor who hangs out with me was asking me a lot of questions about where I buy my 50# bags of coal. Now I know why.
Anyone else get lucky? Funny how getting a lump of coal for Xmas was always a joke to play on bad kids . Now its a great gift

I was hoping Santa would drop a whole tractor trailer load in my driveway. I guess I wasn't BAD enough!

I washed a few pounds of nut and brought it into work for people to use as stocking stuffers, to my surprise it was a big hit and gone almost immediately.

How'd you think I got the handle "stockingfull?"
My Mom had a nice, shiny lump of stove coal and always put it in my stocking -- as a warning.

I've told this story before but for those that haven't heard it...
My Uncle is a coal mining artifact collector, quite a large collection I'll add. He must have at least a thousand pieces.Certainly big enough for small museum layout, it's all small stuff. We used to exchange names for Christmas and all go to his house on Christmas. I got his name and as soon as I got it I knew exactly what I was going to get him. I giant chunk of coal.
Me and my two brothers went over to the breaker and I picked a piece out, I had the loader guy dig out of the pile and cut it in half because it was too big. The three of us barely get this thing in the truck. Nothing to grab and really awkward. I think it was 400lbs or so.
So I give him the coal and he's all giddy because he now has this huge chunk of coal in his basement. His basement is finished with decent sized bar, actually from a real bar. We're all sitting around the bar drinking some beers and admiring the coal and his granddaughter who was about 4 at the time comes down the stairs and spots the piece of coal. She's stops dead in her tracks on the stairs and turns to us and with absolute seriousness says "Whoever got that must have been Reaaaaaaaaaaally bad!"... One of those moments when you had to be there but it was hilarious.

I asked for some but didn't get any either .I did get a small shovel to use though. That reminds me when I was younger I asked my parents for a 22 rifle.Got up on Christmas day and there it was,a box just the right size for a 22 .Then I was devistated as I opened it up only to find a wall mountable gun rack .No rifle to put on it though, just like getting a shovel and no coal to use it on .

I gave a fellow I work with a few pieces of coal to give to his wife for all her mean spirited red-headedness. The day after I remember he came to me and asked if I could see a bump on his head, and oh yea it was huge. I asked "what bump?". Im guessing she got fired up and threw that fist sized chunk of bit at him. So much for that Christmas spirit.

No, I didn't actually get coal for Christmas but when my son was telling his scout leader I was not available because I was out shooting my new shotgun, the man asked if I had gotten it for Christmas. My son explained that was the case and I had also recently gotten a ton of coal. The man looked shocked so my son assured him it was ok, 'she wanted coal anyway." Lisa
